Witnessed a near fatality while working here. Do not listen to the lies you will be told on the phone during your interview about how Barminco prides itself on a safe, inclusive, respectful work environment and values feedback from their employees. Once you get on site you will see the truth. Abusive upper management, the absolute minimum I have ever seen on a mine site for tooling, and attempts to cut corners and save money when performing potentially life altering tasks. Employees are blamed when they are unable to properly or safely perform work, even though there are no tools or facilities to perform even the most basic maintenance tasks here.  In addition, a complete lack of training and experienced workers present will keep your head on a swivel, as managers are more interested in sitting up in the office drinking coffee and watching you out of a window than they are in mentoring or training new workers, who are largely left to fend for themselves once they've completed the I-pad onboarding modules. Learn from my mistake and look elsewhere.

Upon training for an offsider position I was offered to switch to training for driving trucks underground. During my second day behind the wheel I made contact with an underground structure, I was informed by multiple employees about the common occurrence of such incidents and that I shouldn't be concerned about my job security. When I arrived at work the next day, Barminco management terminated my employment as they felt I was not capable of meeting minimum safety requirements for the position. The inaccuracy of such statements was quite profound and left me in disbelief. The fact that it's happened many times in the past without the termination of involved employees is unsettling. 

Typical work day here was go go go all day long, preach safety but had some of the worst safety infractions I’ve ever seen. Aussies are ignorant and rude, treat Canadians like national from Africa. 

Work conditions are good, however they’re purposely understaffed and the Canadian miners are paid very little in comparison to the Aussie jumbo guys who make $2400 a day and don’t do a lick of work outside their scope, and they treat people soo badly they quit. 

Stay away from this company in Canada if you can help it, turn around rate is high and morale is poor. 

I quite recently worked for this Company at the Hemlo mime site. The first 2 weeks of work were good and then it went downhill from there. I met alot of great people there but the job itself was stressful and my shifter was very pushy at times im very dissapointed in the management, you get treated like a number and there very unprofessional. I would definately not recommend anyone that's from Ontario work for Barminco Mining Services. 

As the other reviews say it’s management that drive this place down. Between the shifters and supervisors giving you snarky comments. And the Australians catering more to the Australians. There’s also never any pay advances for anyone and if someone gets one it’s usually a favourite of all the other staff. Avoid working for Barminco at all costs! No pay increases and they’ll work you to the bone and then some.

The interview went good. I was looking forward to working for this company. After working here I see it’s not as good as I was told it would be. Lots of unpreparedness, lots of green workers, because experienced workers leave after they see what it’s like. 

Safety is never prioritized, there is at least 1 major incident every week, not that they will tell you that because management will just sweep it under the rug. If you’re Canadian you’re treated like dirt, if you’re Aussie you can do no wrong. Anyone with any experience leaves.
