Barrie Transit is an “ok” place to work. The people are fine but the pay is too low and completely out of touch with the cost of living here. There’s no pension and the benefits aren’t that great. Not to mention you pay for a good chunk of them out of your already inadequate pay.

None of this is helped by a very weak union who seems to be so useless at fighting for our compensation, they’re probably paid to suppress it. (They once negotiated a contract for a nickel raise).

This job has a brutal work-life balance, especially at first. It’s really just not worth it. You make significantly less than almost any other city in Ontario with the same or lower cost of living.

 If you want a well paying job that you can settle into and save for your future, look elsewhere, this ain’t it.

One of the worst places to work. Plenty co-workers will speak badly about you behind your back to management and other co-workers. Don't get any weekend off for at least 10 years. Are required to be there all the time and never get sick or have a personal life or a family. Customers for the most part are amazing but like any other customer service job there are a select few that are horrible. Supervisors have no problem threatening you to do unsafe work. GM loves to harass employees and word situations to make you look bad.

All in all it was a good job. Good people to work with and could be enjoyable. The variety of people was interesting. The weather could be a challenge in keeping the system running. I felt if I went to management they listened to my concerns. The hours were long but not unreasonable so. Some periods during the shift where really busy but this was balanced by slow times.

Sometimes the weather creates difficult circumstances challenging schedules.
Meet interesting people and help make their experience as enjoyable as possible.

The work day was wonderful so long as you avoided management. I learned how to stay calm and professional while  being publicly abused and threatened  by my superiors. I have never worked at a more unprofessional place. I loved driving and liked the benefits. When I left it took 3 months and a lawyer to get my ROE

They'll expletive you every chance they get 
They don't care about employee safety
They'll make you work illegally unless you know your rights. They make you sign a waiver if you're going over hours

do not work here high turn over rates trainees don't last training period.management should work in a circus total freak show from the top to the bottom of management takes 18 months to go from $15 an hour to $23.84 an hour. No pension bad benefits

I liked the driving job full time. I made 23.00/hr and got overtime to. The people were friendly and patient. I learned how to be patient, reliable, and very good at time management. I wish to be employed driving again in the near future

poor structure, no support from management, and no direction, no consistency in schedules. no willingness to listen to new ideas. not a good work place environment.

I would usually push buggies which was boring but productive. The coworkers were nice. The hardest part was working outside, so depending on the weather it would be make my day or not.
