Bayview Wildwood Resort

I had asked many specific questions about the workplace environment within my interview as I had just left a workplace with a very toxic environment. I had expressed my issues with working in environments in which has a lot of drama and I was assured that Bayview Wildwood Resort would be the perfect place to work as everyone is mature. I found out on my very first shift that I was lied to about that. There was a lot of drama and no form of communication between the management and staff. In the time I had worked there, I hadn't heard one compliment come from any member of the management team. The hours are also horrible. In the interview I had asked about the hours and I was told I would be working split shifts but, I had no idea what that meant. When I asked for clarification I was not given any. I had gone in for my first shift and realized I would be working 10-12 hours within a day with only about a 2 hour break. As this location is fairly far from any sort of housing, most of that break was spent driving. I had quickly learnt that I was bluntly lied to within my interview and did not appreciate it at all. All of the workers there are clearly only there because the job pays more than minimum wage. A huge downside is that servers do not receive tips and if they do, they are split between everyone leaving the servers with about $3 in tips per night, if that. Normally I would never write a bad review on a past workplace but I would highly recommend staying away from this environment. It is very clear that the management does not care about the staff at all and that starts in the interview process.

This place, while looking like a wonderful place to vacation is a terrible place to work. They barely gave us training, the supervisors went on power trips regularly. When I made a mistake because of my lack of training, I was transferred to a different department and was not given any indication of how I could do better. I went from full time to part time. They do not report accidents on the job and the program that’s sends foregin workers to get job experience get paid more and given more hours. The food servers work triple shifts with barely enough time to catch their breath. Also, this current summer is when they decided to start giving free food to the staff. Usually the kitchen staff make too much of something and leave out whatever is left for the staff. As well, they hired a fourteen and fifteen year old, one of them as a food server where there is alcohol. This job has taught me to document everything. 

I had the best time working for Bayview Wildwood Resort. Being a server here was fulfilling in so many aspects, the most notable part being the connections you can have with the guests. Knowing you can make such a positive impact on a groups vacation is so rewarding. Additionally, the team dynamic is extremely supportive, and really allows you to thrive in the environment. Living on site was amazing, and I have made some life long friends along the way. Working alongside some of your closest friends and then being able to spend the night by the fire afterwards makes some stressful/busy nights worth it. I will miss Bayview a lot. The management is also very helpful if you ever need support!

Nothing really we all work together to make sure job is done properly

Amazing great moral and team building projects 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
As Sous chef I am in early prepping and putting out breakfast and lunch buffets and prepping for dinner service

 The resort is in a beautiful location, and the environment is fast-paced, especially during the busy season.
The team I worked with was fun, and I learned a lot about customer service and hospitality. The job can be physically demanding at times, but it’s rewarding to help guests have a great experience. 
Listening to the guitar and enjoying bonfires with co-workers and friends after shifts was my favourite part!

Busy days on weekends and long weekends

day consisted of a very busy and productive work day with drivimg and cleaning and watching over my staff there needs and my customers needs. bagging laundry, loading vehicle up driving to each cottage home to provide my staff with all there needs and concerns making sure the recreational hall was cleaned daily for the personal use of the cottagers.

I genuinely can’t recommend working here. It’s in the middle of nowhere so you’ll likely have a long commute unless you happen to live close. The pay is dirt, genuinely not worth it. Extremely understaffed and poorly managed, too stressful for the pay 

The company is pretty well organized for its size you have to do a lot of manual labour by walking around with a wheelbarrow full of supplies because most of the rooms are outdoors and cottages sometimes it can be fun it's a problem in the winter time otherwise I would say it was a pretty fair job of people are friendly and I enjoyed my time there

Catty work environment. Girls don’t show up to shift and you get slammed with all of their work to. This repeats and nothing happens. They also contract in a cleaning crew who they pay more then there hired staff. The hired staff have to train the contacted who barely speak English are poor workers and take lots of breaks.
