Bellissima fashions

My time spent with Bellissima was strenuous and stressful. 
While I am the type of person to like stress as a productivity enhancer, in this case it was not. Wage was extremely low, and the expectation of work was extremely high. Paying less than a McDonalds would a cashier and expecting a well-rounded experienced professional in many subjects. Would not offer assistance and aid when required and would not be forgiving of employees requiring assistance or time to learn. Overall the company is ran by family and will always stay that way. If you dare try to step on a family members toes, be prepared to be bitten. Not a professional or respectful way to treat employees who work extremely hard even when wages are low. Disfocused management juggling too many things that became late night emails long after working hours requiring to work on projects on late evenings and weekends. Work life balance was unappreciated. Management blatantly ignores requests and questions to improve work performance and penalize when you aren't prepared. Indirect management that talks behinds others backs and is not direct and constructive, instead looks at ways to cut people loose instead of assisting them to improve performance. Benefits you have to fight to get, it takes 7 months to receive them. They will tell you six but it is six months AFTER your first month. Do not respect their employees and overall are unprofessionally managing the company and the several employees who fall into their reach. I would not recommend attempting to grow a career in this toxic pollution pool.

Major communication problems between head office and sales associates holding communication from branch managers and employees and giving misleading information to employees as well.  Disrespect from native English speakers employees towards not native speakers employees or immigrants in different departments.  Their inconsistency to follow the policy is sickening towards employees related to vacation days, sick days and days off.  Negative physical and emotional effects from working there, arms and shoulders sore for the constant carrying of hangers and the manipulation of merchandise around the workplace.  Constant bullying from head office on situations like phone calls they laugh in group about your accent and pronunciation. Emotionally stressing for you and your family because the amount of stress and toxicity from people is huge.  I wouldn't recommend to work there if you have to or want to do it, do it part time.  this is just part of my experience there but I really needed to work and I did so there for three years.

The company is trying to change its image and supposedly its work culture but is being run by dysfunctional upper management who lack self-awareness, general organization, and an understanding of today's workforce (or customers).

Everything is done last minute, while anything planned is changed at the drop of the hat (a great way to create employee burnout, especially when you expect all of your teams to run around at a moment's notice ALL THE TIME). Countless changes among the head office staff, which destroys any sense of a team. High expectations on staff while upper management treat themselves to company lunches weekly, get loads of time off available to them, and work remotely whenever they want (which no one else but them can). Don't recommend. Management need to take a good look at how their behaviours and lack of incentives to employees means no one will want to work for them.

Recent changes to management has been extremely positive. They have brought in a super smart and talented management team and hired managers with +++ retail and sales experience. Everyone is very helpful.  Since Dec, 2020 - the new team has been very responsive and communication is transparent.  I feel like I am contributing to the company instead of being just a number.  When I have a problem, I call my manager or someone at head office and things get dealt with or they tell me if it is going take more time.  Not everything is perfect but I feel people try hard to correct situations.  Everyone is super positive and willing to help out.  The stores are competitive but in a fun way - not nasty like other retail chains that I have worked at.  I am really happy I found a job here.  

Terrible Management at Head Office. Totally incompetent Sales Director. Out of touch and rude buyers. Everyone plays the blame game. They have fired at least 12 sales associates, store managers, and district managers this year alone. The fact that they do this in order to through their people under the bus and make themselves look better (taking no responsibility for their failures and shortcomings) without cause and warning and the day before they would have to legally pay severance is disgusting. The company has less than 50 employees and they have fired at least 12 this year so far. There will be more to come. That should tell you all you need to know. Stay away. 

The owner all the way through to the management in head office have no idea what the other is doing. There is no transparency , accountability, or communication done with each department or with the store managers.  The expectation on the store staff to meet or exceed sales targets is ridiculous when the company can not bring in an appropriate amount of stock to fill their stores and make sales. There is a lot of talk and no action. This company had so much potential, but the family that is running this company is running it into the ground. If you enjoy not knowing if your store will be open next week or if you will get paid next payday , then this is the place for you!

Every day is busy showing the beautiful fashions designed by Joseph Ribkoff  Ladies come from all around to purchase and we have the opportunity to show our expertise by showing the ladies the different fashions for their body types.
The co-workers are all taught to work as a team and we help each other out by offering advice while wardrobing for someone.  
The hardest part of the job is understanding different wants and needs of each customer. 
The most enjoyable part of the job is customer service skills.  The ability to carry on a conversation with all incoming ladies and understanding what they are looking for.

The store which I worked was unable to keep a manager. Everything was left to the two full time employees. Head office was tired of helping and left us to hang. Numerous occasions myself or the other full time employee did full day shifts alone bc we did not have the staff needed and were not allowed to hire. The company discriminates based on age lots of young women would apply but because they were young we were told to toss the applications.

I was employed by this company for 4 years ,there expectations are ridiculous, they set unrealistic targets, they have you sign contracts then don’t follow thru , give you clothing allowance then take it away .. head office management needs changed … They want robots to work there , don’t have family issues .. eg death in family or personal health issues they have no compassion.. they want you to sell at least 3 pieces of clothing  to every customer , all they care about is money , trust me not the customer…. Only thing that keeps this company in business is the devoted customers unfortunately they have no idea what goes on …. Sad sad place to work

However direction is unclear, always changing and no matter what you do it’s not good enough 
It’s not worth your time or stress 
Expected to work beyond scheduled shifts putting in extra time and effort for little to no recognition 
Everyone is disposable to this company. 
Customers are amazing and it’s what I love about my job however the lack of support from upper management make it’s hard to do your job.
