Benteler Group

This is a two shift operation assembling front and rear modules for Chrysler.  The production and product delivery is on a sequenced Just in Time schedule.  Management practices quality process and continuous improvement techniques.  
The operation has been on a steady schedule of 6 days a week for several years.  This heavy workload weighs on all workers.
In my career at Benteler I have learned continuous improvement and systems thinking and analysis.  I have worked on the JHSC and expanded my knowledge in the field of health and safety.

EDS gave me multiple opportunities to grow as a person and expand my work experiences. Management changes but the core values were strong, until HP bought them. I was respected and rewarded for my hard work and attitude. I learned one can do whatever they want, not simply the specific skill they trained for in college/university

Typical day at work was to punch in and go straight to the assembly line. You learnt how to work as a ateam. The managament were smart and easy to work for. My co workers worked very hard and they were fun to be around. The hardest part of my job was to make sure evry part that left the plant was good quality. The most enjoyable part of my job was seeing good quality parts leaving our plant

Horrible atmosphere, constant battle for respect and safety. Carbon monoxide poisoning threw the early years. Took ministry of labor to shut place down to install ventilation system and carbon monoxide detectors threw out the place.

I learned how to operate in a management position while keeping work fun and productive.  How to put my knowledge and experience of equipment operating and leading a team together and get the best out of people.

My key learning with this manufacturing company was exceptional customer service is job one! In this industry, time equals money, so you really need to be on your toes at all times and be ready for anything that comes your way.

factory did not last, very sad. it was a good job while it lasted
great pay, good benefits, but was laid off alot.
on lay offs they would call in for janitor

Not very well run has people issues and management has no faith in being a long term employee as they fear losing their jobs
