Bethany Residence

Have been working here for three years and I love it. The staff are so friendly, and as long as you treat the residents with dignity and respect they will be very kind to you. The pay is a little bit lower, but I’ve had so many great experiences, learned so much, built great relationships with my coworkers and management is very accommodating so it’s worth it! 

Many issues this facility faces are quite common in the health care sector. It is not the owners or managements fault, it doesn’t matter where you go in health care you will face the same issues. 

All in all you really feel like you are making a difference and doing something good while working here, and you get to have a good time while you do it. 


I would do daily showers, meals, cleaning, activities, and give out meds. I learned all about being a PSW, and how different it is to work in a home with people aged 18-97yrs. The Management was not the greatest they needed more staff. The team i worked with varied and sometimes it was hard due to language barriers,and ages. The thardest prt of the job was having to call the police; if it was required. The most enjoyable part of the job was that I was the only female staff that watched sports, so the residents loved hearing about the games that they slept through.

Pros:
- Community you work with are amazing people 
- Staff genuinely want what's best for residents 
- Able to learn the system of long-term care 
- Good place to learn to adapt to a consistently changing environment 
- Excellent place to learn how to navigate different personalities 

Cons:
- Job responsibilities do not reflect wage paid 
- Required to shower tenants even if not PSW
- Single staffed in high-priority areas
- Social circles very tight, gossip very prevalent
- Lack of consequences by management when staff using inappropriate language regarding residents

The company isn’t perfect but they are always trying to do their best! I have work for Bethany Residence since 2018, and since I  worked before the pandemic and after I can say there has been some major struggles due to the pandemic. However I find management very reasonable and relatable, they try do try to give the residents the best life they can. Bethany so far has been a great place to learn about healthcare and mental illness. 

I liked this place and I also enjoyed my job. Actually , I love to provide  care to people who really need and I am thankful to the management for gave me such a opportunity.I learned a lot during this job from my colleagues and residents as well. The hardest part is only one that is the distance to travel because I have been living in Brampton and it took 55 min to drive.All in all, I enjoyed my work and love to do that kind of jobs in my future.

Great place to work, except that the pay is low.

A supportive workplace, where both staff and management show care and understanding. Supportive management involves providing resources, encouragement, and creating a safe and inclusive environment where employees feel valued and empowered. 

I really enjoyed working here. More than the staff, it’s just a great experience to be helping people with these unique conditions. The staff all work really hard as well so there’s no picking up anyone’s slack!

Truly one of a kind place to work. You will gain valuable experience and you will gain support and collaboration from your peers.  Absolutely favourite job that I’ve ever had.

I enjoyed taking care of patient needs, booking appointments, sitting in on patient updates and doing referrals. I loved the staff and what the place had to offer their patients.
