Beyond Behavioural Intervention

I worked at Beyond Behavioural Intervention for two years because I genuinely wanted to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable youth.

Sadly, my experience was the complete opposite.
I felt that staff safety wasn't a priority, and employees who spoke up about concerns were ignored instead of supported. Meanwhile, the people who agreed with everything, never challenged decisions, and were easiest to influence seemed to be the ones who got promoted. At this company, a promotion never felt like recognition for caring about the youth—it felt more like an invitation to the "office club."
I never felt promotions were based on who cared the most about the children.
I also felt the HR department wasn't equipped to properly handle employee concerns. Based on my experience, I questioned whether the people responsible for HR had the knowledge, training, or experience required for those roles. I didn't feel concerns were handled professionally, fairly, or with any real interest in finding solutions.
To me, it felt like the organization had lost sight of why it existed in the first place. I was left with the impression that growth, appearances, and protecting the company's image had become more important than helping vulnerable children build successful futures.
Maybe it's time to stop asking how much the company has grown and start asking how many children actually leave its care with the tools, confidence, and support they need to succeed in life. That's the number that really matters.
These children's futures are in your hands. That's not a small responsibility.
Sometimes it felt like the goal was to keep the system running instead of helping kids get to the point where they didn't need it anymore.
Maybe I got that wrong. I hope I did.
Because the best success story shouldn't be a child who stays in care. It should be a child who no longer needs it.
I left disappointed because I believed the youth deserved far better than what I experienced during my time there.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Vicarious trauma, unreliable coworkers, unpredictable work setting, poor management communication.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Staff are responsible for creating a home like environment for children and youth in need. Each location and client have their own individual environments and cultural involvement. It's recommended to bring a patient demeanor and a positive attitude to work.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Before starting, it's a good idea to check the communication logs and group chats to make sure you come to work prepared for the shift. Shift change includes a summary of the previous shift events, as well as things that are needed for your shift or the next one to forward on. There is a list of duties and cleaning that needs to be filled in as it's completed. The shift events are then logged as accurately as possible in the required forms online as you care for the client(s). Before ending the shift, oncoming staff will join in another shift change. This is when you share your observations and ideas for improving the conditions of the clients specific needs. As well as any unfinished duties or notes from the previous shift. Both shift changes are mandatory, as they help keep things running smoothly.

This is by far one of the most toxic and negative work environments in existence. When the leaders make fun of their employees and refuse to help them grow, it's a pretty big problem. They build themselves up to be a company with integrity yet in that very same breath will bully and lie to their employees. For example, rehiring someone who previously left, only to tell them they had no positions available for them and letting them go again, and then to post an ad for that same position the very same day. It's atrocious. The staff are improperly trained to handle emergency situations and are incompetent in delivering safe and positive services for their client base. 

The management team is absurdly dishonest. The hours are terrible, the nepotism is astoundingly obvious. They hire friends of management for higher positions regardless of the lack of qualifications. 

the truth is, there isn't enough space to get into the root of this company's incompetence. The incidents there alone are enough to make parents shutter and cringe. 

This is all speaking to friends who worked there who despised working there. 

This work place is a dream come true, I have never felt like more of a part of a healthy community. The dedication and attention by managers is second to none. Being treated and cared for like family, is absolutely hands down true. They truly have integrity and care about each youth, family and staff and it shows by the way they give back. Free trainings, I cannot even count the amount of training opportunities offered by this company. Someone is always available should you have questions and best of all, I have never worked at a more inclusive job! 

This is the most amazing workplace I have ever worked for. The company is in its 3rd year and is always expanding.  It started as a dream for the owner helping a handful of families and she has now helped over 200 families! It's truly a blessing to say I work for BBI! 
We are all together learning and growing in all aspects. The people I work with have become family! They are willing to listen and go out of their way to try and help each and everyone the best they can not just the families we work with but also the employees. The company shows such generosity it restores the hope in humanity for many of us!! 
The ups and downs of helping our youth navigate in our world  and succeed is the most amazing part of our job making it not feel like a job! 
If you are looking for a full filling line of work with people who truly care about others this is the place for you!

A typical work day is exciting & full of opportunities and adventure; you’re always learning and being encouraged with positive feedback. 
Management are always a call away. You never second guess yourself with such support. It’s overflowing! 
The workplace culture is like no other, they take pride in their staff and you get back what you put in! It’s the best place I’ve ever worked! 
Hard part of the job can be attributed to caring too much and ensuring you have healthy boundaries and work life balance. 

Most enjoyable part of this job is seeing the differences you make - seeing the positives- being instructed clearly - support in crisis’- overall understanding from management- changing lives for the better! 

What is the best part of working at the company?
I enjoyed Monday to Friday only day shifts. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There’s no support from upper management if you are in a situation that needs guidance. but they tell you upon hiring that you will be supported. That is a lie! 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not much culture in the homes when I was there. All you see is a smudge bowl/sage along with a few Indigenous pictures, 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Driving non step basically! I was nothing but a taxi. It’s a lot of wear and tear on a vehicle.

This is by far the most unethical and poorly managed company I've ever worked for. If you're passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable youth, this is not the place for you.


The workplace is toxic, leadership prioritizes saving money over the well-being of the kids, and there is little accountability. It was common to see youth out of school for extended periods with little effort made to help them return. Promotions are often based on favoritism rather than merit, and employees who speak up about concerns risk retaliation or losing their jobs.


I would not recommend this organization to anyone who values integrity, professionalism, or genuinely wants to support vulnerable youth.

The youth are wonderful and front line staff care deeply, but in my experience, organizational safety practices were inconsistent and did not align with organizations professed values and goals. Legitimate safety concerns raised by frontline staff were not always taken seriously, even as risks escalated. Frequent last-minute scheduling changes placed staff with youth they did not know, undermining relational safety and increasing risk of harm for both youth and workers. Greater accountability and alignment between leadership and on-the-ground practice are needed.

The coworkers and clients were wonderful and I met many good friends

The work itself is stressful and depending on the client, there can be difficulties but it is important to keep calm and think carefully

Friendly, welcoming and supportive

Go in at 4 pm, debrief on previous shift and engage with client to the best that I can
