I have been working at Bioped for over a year now, and it has been a truly rewarding experience. As a company that specializes in lower limb health, Bioped stands out for its unwavering commitment to employee well-being and professional growth.

My normal workday at BioPed Lasalle consists of housekeeping (making sure the lab is organized and the clinic is clean), sitting in during patient assessments, working on shoe mods, helping fabricate orthotics, helping patients with shoes and sometimes desk duties. 

It is a very engaging job with many different things to do everyday. I feel like I am making a difference, especially in regards to people's foot pain in their daily lives so this job is rewarding in that regard.

The BioPed Lasalle management is very supportive and creates a very positive work environment. I feel like my concerns are always heard and considered and I feel that there is a good dialogue between management and I. This makes me feel motivated to work and learn more. 

Since there are so many different tasks to do, some of them can be a challenge but only adds to the intrigue of the job.

Overall, my experience at BioPed Lasalle has been a very positive one and I am looking forward to working here for many more years.

Started here as a student at two good locations. The managers at both these clinics were supportive, if just a bit strict. Unfortunately, there was no need for me and no room to hire after I finished my student placement so we parted ways.

After this I had the displeasure of working at other locations that were not as supportive and some even fostered a toxic work environment. The managers here were not present, they managed from elsewhere where they did not even see their staff and clinic in action. One manager I had was not even educated in pedorthics. I was also blamed for things that were not within my control. Some managers can have poor conflict resolution. I had an older coworker yell at me simply for making orthotics the way I was trained, but he wanted them his way. Instead of using it as a teaching moment, he just threw a fit. The manager did nothing to address this and even took his side. Very unprofessional for both their parts.

In the end, it's not worth it to work here. You risk ending up with poor management and a bad working environment. These clinics are not consistent throughout the locations. 

Since being a student in placement, I've worked at a few different locatios. The locations to the west of the GTA are the worst places I have ever worked at. Namely Waterloo, Kitchener, and Guelph. I found that they fostered a toxic work environment. At one place, management did not value mental health well being. I took a sick day, but since it wasn't a physical illness, I was reprimanded for it. In another instance, managment blamed me for things that were not my fault, like a patient having a concern that would have happened regardless of practitioner. But instead of owning up to it, management found it easier to blame me since it happened to be my patient. Another incident with this same managment was that gave me permission for an action, but when a patient complained about it, they turned around and blamed me again even though they had cleared it! Despicable actions from these people. After a few incidencez similar to these, I have had enough of Bioped. Never working for them again. Not worth the risk to end up in a poorly managed, toxic work environment.

A Typical Day at Work:
A typical day at BioPed Footcare was a dynamic blend of responsibilities across various roles. Mornings usually began with frontdesk duties, where I greeted and guided patients, managed appointments, and ensured smooth communication between pedorthists and patients. This set a positive tone for the day. Subsequently, I would transition to manufacturing, where I managed orthotic milling stations and meticulously crafted orthotics, ensuring precision and patient comfort. Later, I'd participate in patient consultations and orthotic alterations, collaborating closely with pedorthists. The day often concluded with assisting customers in choosing orthopedic shoes. This variety made each day engaging and offered a holistic view of patient care.

I have really enjoyed my time at BioPed. It is a small, but busy location where you can make an impact, good or bad. Due to the smaller physical size, those people you are around are critical and each person can either motivate you, or drain you. Management focuses on prioritizing the ones who contribute positively to this environment. Pay seems about average to competitors, but we are given opportunities to exceed it. Positive contributors seem to do well. The clients are great and have built a lot of relationships. 

BioPed helped shepherd me from my time as a kine grad who was unsure of what was next to a pedorthist with a career that I am very satisfied with. Our BC BioPed teams are a very close-knit bunch, but we benefit from having a much larger network of clinics nationwide to understand the trends in our field. We make all of our orthotics on-site, pulling from that wide breadth of knowledge to stay relevant to the latest research and technologies. All of this makes for a workplace that fosters both creativity and clinical excellence. The Team at BioPed home office has a collaborative hands-on approach, which has allowed me to grow much faster than I would have working at another company. We are an ever-expanding company, so there's always room to grow as well, which leaves me excited for the future!

It's rare to work for a company that respects and values a work life balance. They are very understanding.  If you communicate in a professional manner they really try their best to accommodate any resonable request. The Bioped team is very organized and supportive. Education and staying up to date on new treatments for feet and nails is very important to Bioped. They offer many opportunities to train and certify their Footcare staff. They hold annual conferences to get to know other Footcare teams from other locations and  share knowledge.

I've worked for Bioped for over 5 years now and enjoy every minute of it.  It was a great opportunity for me coming out of school and it has lived up to the hopes I had with regards to advancement in my field with this job.  The company is national and getting different perspectives from different areas in the country is very interesting.  The staff I have worked with in my time here have been a highlight for me.  Always felt like a fun and supportive place to go to to work and i never dread a day.  It is a rewarding job helping people get back on their feet again and I take great pride in doing so.  The company always supports the decisions I make that best serve the patient/client, which I very much appreciate

Typical day varies from day to day. Prior to working at Bioped LaSalle, I had a very passive aggressive manager. The freedom from that environment has decreased my stress levels significantly. I enjoy coming to work, and I love to help patients find solutions tailored to their specific needs. LaSalle does not have very many employees and therefore there are more responsibilities for each person, however the network is large and there is always support when needed.
