The work environment is very good due to the people I work with.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The work day is a rewarding experience because of having the opportunity to help people who receive the services better their lives.

As an intern, I was treated as a professional. At the same time, they understood that I was entry-level and allowed me not to understand something or to make slight mistakes. My supervisors were concerned about how I felt, what I think, what I need, etc. I've had biweekly personal meetings with the PR Director and she just wanted to know how I was doing and what I think. I was given real tasks within PR mostly in media relations and influencer relations. I knew when I did a good job and when something can be improved. 
Absolutely lovely and caring people willing to help others grow.

Typical Day

-Cleaning common arrears
-Case noting client interactions
-Monitoring safety of clients
-Light case management
-Assessing immediate needs


Co workers are great. Management is supportive of frontline staff. I felt valued and appreciated. Clients can be challenging with difficult behaviours and emergencies. Everyday is different and a great learning experience. Wish the pay was at least 65k


The organization offers a lot of learning and hands on experience. Definitely a good place if you want to get into social work and working with the homeless (+addictions and mental health) population. However, once you get the experience you need/want, don't stay here for too long. Co - workers are great and so are some managers, but the upper management is a bit blind sided by the everyday tasks that front line workers are dealing with. Also, your shift partner really makes or breaks your work here. 

you will be required to listen to people who have more seniority over you, but best thing to do is just listen to others who have more experience than you because they can be rude if you end up making decisions for yourself.  there is lots of opportunity to grow. 

The work environment at Blue Door is very positive, management gives you every opportunity to grow as a social worker and within the company. If you have a bad experience you most likely do not encapsulate the values the company holds dear.

Overall blue door was an excellent place to work. The workers and employees really cared about the mission and there is a real sense of teamwork. Management style was good as well. 

Good workplace.  Not much guidance from upper management.  Wish it wasn't remote, as there is not much team bonding. Good pay and good benefits overall. 

Pay isn't great but they try to eradicate homelessness

CEO was great and interactive. Willing to listen. Open door policy. Based of funding, unfortunately, there is only so much that can be done
