Bluebird Care

I started at the Grimsby/Cleethorpes branch with no experience. Bluebird have a training program, which due to covid was minimised. Also had to travel to Lincoln, which you don't get paid for till you've worked 3 months. I enjoyed my job and the people I met were for the most wonderful, (staff and customers.) unfortunately the team were let down by bad organisational staff. Was guilt tripped into doing jobs outside my working hours on more then one occasion even after I put in a change of hours form.  And you MUST work alternate weekends. You do get paid travel money  at 25p per mile, but only get paid for jobs you're in, which is no good if you have a 2 hour gap between jobs and your too far away to go home. And more often then not travel times are tight and occasionally impossible. If bluebird advertised for the staff to cover the hours that they need (they're DESPERATE for evening /night  and weekend carers,) instead of offering flexible hours to all they would be able to work far more efficiently. I would go back if it wasn't for the weekends. 


I have worked for Bluebird Care Waltham Forest coming up for 5 years now.
I started working with Bluebird Care August 2014 as a care assistant, worked my way up in the company.
I started as a care assistant, then become a lead care assistant, then was promoted to a care supervisor. 
I am now a Lead Care Supervisor.

I love working for Bluebird Care i find it a very interesting, fun and rewarding job. I enjoy leaving my customer happy.

I would highly recommend anyone to apply for a job working for Bluebird Care.

I started working for Bluebird Care with no qualification, The company gave me great opportunity's, I completed my level 2 QCF then progressed on to my level 3, I am now about to start a level 3 in Team Leader Course.

Since I joined the office I have managed to get the Pass system up and running for Bluebird Care. 

In this job I find you learn every single day. 

We provide a high standard of care and that there are measures in place to make sure this is checked and continuously improved. Our focus is on valuing staff and offering quality to customers.

When I started,it was a great place to work. Office staff were friendly and supportive. It is no longer like that. It’s been almost a year of non stop late payment of wages and missing pension contributions. They will take pensions money from your wage but not put it in your pension pot. Wages are always paid late and as of recently, split over multiple days. 

Carers have been leaving in droves since last summer due to issues with being paid on time snd this has increased the pressure on the carers left. They are overworked and not even paid on time. Upper management don’t care and expect us to suck it up and carry on. Office staff try their best but are in the same boat as us carers and can only support us so far and are victims of the same issues with pay. 

The Upper regional management team considers carers to be replaceable so they don’t care about you and will bully you and lie to you of you complain or raise a grievance. 

Such a sad fall from grace and not the company it used to be. 

Customers and carers deserve better. 

I love the job in regards to meet new people/clients, caring for some of the client was very pleasant, so were a bit challenging but it was ok once I got to know them and they were comfortable, rewarding to know I could help some client who have a very limited family-network.
In regards to the employers I was quiet disappointed with the management and the way in which staff are overworked and if the situation arise where staff had to do overtime  eg. having to wait for ambulance to collect the client due to them being unwell it was a problem getting paid for the overtime and office staff mix up rotas and creating a downwards spiral, which would effect the client level of care in regards to the time frames that I would need to get from one client to another.

Told at interview I would be working in a certain area, and was sent all over the place, working 17hr days without breaks, also management talk to you like rubbish when you speak to them about problems. Don’t have a care in the world for workers health and safety, working in all conditions without travel time and expect you to read online policies and procedures in your owntime or you get pulled into the office to ask why you’ve not spent hours reading things in your own time and unpaid.

You will end up working 60 hours per week but only get paid for 40. Management will never help you and will always try to pass the blame to save their own jobs . Never appreciate the hard work you do and the hours you put in . Only plus side is the customers . If you want to be treated badly and have no work life balance then apply to work here.

Bluebird Care Runnymede and Elmbridge was poorly run in the office, they over worked their staff on 15 hour shifts, never had enough carers, forced out the full time hard working English speaking carers and replaced them with non English speaking Romanians and Estonians.

Bluebird care was a amazing place to work, it felt like you were really doing something, not just with caring but within the community and getting people involved.
I felt very supported and valued, I would still be there if I hadn’t left Cornwall…

I really enjoyed my time at Bluebird care Mid and west Cornwall…such a great bunch of people and a real drive to make a difference.
Training is fantastic and nothing is too much trouble, this company goes above and beyond

I have worked with bluebird care for a year and this was my first job as a carer and they support me alot. Give me full training. Worked with seniors and they were all very good and supportive.i worked and learnt at the same time. Great company to work.
