A typical day at work is engaging and productive, with plenty to do because everyone is committed and works hard. The environment encourages learning, and there is always support from colleagues when training or guidance is needed.

Throughout my time here, I learned a great deal from my coworkers and management alike. The high standards and collaborative approach pushed me to grow professionally and develop strong work habits that will benefit me long term.

Management is supportive, knowledgeable, and clearly invested in both the success of the team and the quality of the work being produced. Expectations are clear, and there is a strong emphasis on meeting deadlines while maintaining excellent quality.

The workplace culture is very positive employees are friendly, kind, and genuinely willing to help one another. There is a healthy work-life balance, yet everyone takes their role seriously and strives to deliver top-notch results.

The hardest part of the job is meeting the high expectations and deadlines, but this challenge is also what makes the role so rewarding. The most enjoyable part is working alongside such dedicated and motivated people in an environment that truly supports learning and professional growth.

Strict and rigid working office hours. I do not know why management lacks compassion to have flexible working hours.

Too many "junior" and "Engineers-in-Training" in the project engineering group. They lack experience and technical know-how to lead projects in the Oil and Gas industry

I feel there is no room for advancement in this company so look elsewhere. Salary is well below the Calgary requirements for similar positions. Since Project Managers are shareholders in the company they want to maximize the money in their pockets so they keep employees salaries way low than industry payscale.

Unfriendly work culture and office conditions. Every company has flexible working hours except for Bluestar Engineering. 

Management likes to micromanage you and keep their eyes on you all the time. 

They have revolving door when it  comes to designers and engineers. Low pay is one of the reasons for this and also crazy working conditions.

They always have job postings for junior designers and engineers because these people do not have an established network to warn them about Bluestar.

Hypocrites can say whatever they want to say in public websites. But, majority of their employees know about toxic environment of the company and stingy attitude of its shareholders. If you don't work for certain PMs your salary is far below industry standard. They make you believe "the big brother" is always watching you and proud of it! Their HR is a joke and can't criticize managers unprofessional attitude. You won't have any chance to grow, so only work here if you desperately looking for a job.

Nothing good about this place even if you use it as a “stepping stone” job - the training is poor, the work environment is chaotic and stressful, and there is no work culture. Managers are petty, bullies and control freaks. If you enjoy being micromanaged and at risk for being let go when they decide you’re not “suitable” for the job anymore, (ie. not acting like their little puppet) then this place is perfect for you!

Bluestar's strong focus on quality and attention to detail. The company has well-established drafting and engineering standards, and deliverables go through a rigorous review process before issuance. Working here has helped me improve my understanding of  engineering practices, client specifications, and industry standards while contributing to high-quality project execution.

Small office that is focused on billing and turn around. Not enjoyable to work for. Lots of issues in terms of QA/QC and management takes no responsibility. Very difficult to think these guys will be able to keep up when things get better. Seem like they will stay afloat as long as projects are small and being lean is the best.

Long, stressful, expected to be glued to your chair, not allowed to socialize

Managers are also shareholders and they pay employees next to nothing while they make money.
The directors and management team are dishonest.
It's a place to work while you get a better job.

Perfect company without stress and completely organized. I developed web based software. Website and timesheet program. Data transfer automatically to simply accounting. Managed computers and servers.
