Let me start off by saying that if you like to take your breaks when you want, have your lunch when you want, stop to stretch your legs when you want and if you like to snack all day, then this is the place to be.
Every morning you are given your routes and you are left on your own to complete them. You usually complete a 40 hour week but if it’s making more money you’re into, there is also the opportunity to work overtime everyday.
At BRA, we have a very competitive salary, unlike other companies that pay more only to offer seasonal work and no job security. So how can BRA offer this, well we are contracted by the County of Huron therefore we represent the County and with that comes perks like competitive pay and job security, this is possible because we are unionized and not many companies offer that. 
At BRA the culture is very positive, they make every effort to make this a top tier company to work for. 
Every morning we have a 10 minute huddle to review any outstanding topics and address any new topics. 
Once a month we have a general meeting. In this meeting we acknowledge employee performance, birthdays, anniversaries, what's new and Q and A's. 
Also in these meetings we review training modules such as WHMIS, PPE, safety protocols and defensive driving to stay current and maintain a safe workplace .
Once initiated you will get a uniform allowance to cover safety boots, company  shirts and pants. We have one of the most extensive health coverages and the best pension plans, offered through OMERS….. and if that’s not enough BRA also offers paid vacation, sick days and personal days.
What company gives you all this and all that is asked from you is that you show up and give 110% every day. 
But if you're lazy and you're not a team player then don't bother coming here, we are a team who believes in teamwork and consider ourselves a winning team.

In closing I'm very proud to be part of BRA. I believe BRA is already a top tier company to work for, we have a winning team and a great and supportive management team. On top of that, they already offer above market salary, best health coverage and job security, but what I think I like the most from BRA is the company's effort to recognize us, the employees. With Employee of the month awards, years of service recognition, coffee and donuts in the meetings, BBQ lunches, referral programs and gift card incentives to promote BRA and to be an ambassador to the company; shows me they really care about us, the employees and the type of work environment we all can be proud of.


Management can’t seem to organize a riot. Lots of micro frustrations. The job is easy if everyone shows up to work. Same people call in all the time and Nothing is done. Same people have to pick up the extra work because the worker who have been there for more than 10years just come back to the yard and sit for an hour instead of helping others. No one wants to help anyone. Truck break down all the time. Dispatch’s problem solving is just throwing p00p against a wall in hopes something sticks. 

Bluewater Recycling Association is a great place to work, the workplace culture is welcoming, inclusive and friendly. The work can be fast paced and difficult at times but if you're a hard worker the hours just fly by! The decent work schedule allows you to enjoy an easy, healthy work/life balance as well. Cons include working in an environment that can be smelly and dirty but there are also pros such as holiday lunches, work clothes allowance, benefits, pension and more!

Poorly run company, managers do not have proper management training. They do not care about their workers safety, wellbeing, or over all happiness. They are not open to constructive criticism when problems are brought forth, nor are they willing to fix problems in and around the company and property. I do not recommend this position to anyone who is a certified mechanic. They do not pay according to current living costs. Just a horrible place to work  

Plant manager very friendly and approachable.  Most workers work as a team and get things done together. Either running the product baler, loading trucks, driving the skid steer and or the front end loader in the afternoons. I enjoy being able to do different tasks throughout the day. Reasonable pay, overtime after 8 hours, double time on weekends.

They pay you for every minute you work. Overtime after 8 hrs and paid lunch time

How many drivers call in sick and short drivers so have to do extra runs

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great bunch of drivers to work with.  Team atmosphere 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Everyday the same.  Go do your run and then go to the dump and back to the yard

Driver position:
Pros: BRA offers competitive pay with benefits and pension. The job itself is not difficult after the steep learning curve. Equipment is mostly maintained, to the best of their ability. 
Cons: management is lacking effective  communication. Favoritism is rampant which makes is difficult to come to work, do your job, and go home. If you can navigate the politics then it’s fine. 
There is a steep learning curve which causes most of the turn around. 

I have only recently started working for the company and to date I am impressed with the whole operation. As one can imagine there are many moving parts involved in this large scale operation and everyone adapts quickly to the ever changing environment. Management is supportive of new ideas and I feel appreciated in my role.

I have worked for the Association for almost  20 years. I have found the work very rewarding and Management the best there is. The benefits are second to none and the Association provides  stable employment, which I was looking for at the time. I highly recommend anyone looking for work to apply.

HR is the worst and will make your life miserable

Toxic. Horribly miss managed.
