My experience working with Bonnechere Excavating Inc has been positive and professional. BEI operates with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and high-quality workmanship across all job sites. The company maintains well-organized operations and sets clear expectations, which helps ensure that projects are completed on time and to a high standard.

The work environment promotes accountability and teamwork, with a strong emphasis on following safety procedures and maintaining equipment properly. Communication between supervisors and crew members is generally clear and direct, allowing work to progress smoothly even in demanding conditions.

BEI provides steady work in a variety of excavation and construction projects, which helps develop valuable hands-on experience in heavy equipment operation and site work. Overall, it is a company that values hard work, reliability, and professionalism, and it offers a solid environment for gaining practical industry experience.

My experience here doing concrete bridge construction was that depending on the crew you are with, you were subject to either a very helpful & non-hostile work environment, or one that is so toxic that you question your choice of employer. Had good times with good people and close calls with over-confident ones. A construction site is not the appropriate place for an ex-military man with a big ego. One of those foremen who are a completely different person around their own boss to save their own skin, and I truly believe it will never change which is why I left them for a healthier work environment, which also turned out to be higher pay! Like I said, there are some really great guys that I worked with, but the risk outweighed the reward.
Would not suggest working here to anyone I liked.

Great family owned Ottawa Valley company. They expect and reward hardwork, I was promoted twice in two years and loved every position I held. Typical construction hours, minimal to no working weekends which is nice. Good pay for good work. 

Downsides are that if you don't hold a DZ or AZ and can plow you will likely get laid off like a lot in the highway construction business. They also don't offer benefits other than retirement funding. Also you work away from home so you spend your weeks in a hotel if you are not close to the site. 

I left to work closer to home so I could start a family, but if I was just out of school and single you could not work anywhere better.

They have the hours if you want to work and treat you with respect and teach you new experiences.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Able to work towards raises and working with different equipment 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
You work all over Renfrew County and are home every night

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
13 hours and some days is a lot of sitting and waiting for them to need you other days you don’t stop

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing at all . Too many convicted criminals work there

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Never knowing when you was going to get a break 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic Toxic Toxic Toxic Toxic. It was like working with a bunch of creeps 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Running in circles or swimming with a bunch of one-legged ducks

What is the best part of working at the company?
Meeting new people and working outside. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Cars not obeying the traffic signs.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not bad.  All people have their story. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long.  Need to be able to wait long time to go to the bathroom.

I would have no issues with this company if the internal politics and under desk policy’s are to be addressed with the matter of with proper discipline so other workers do not suffer the same misfortune as many others that don’t have “an in” with management or family. This business is not above the old mindset, and has a lot of review to work on. 

If you want a real life with steady hours this ain’t it. This is for all the tough gritty ppl out there not you liberals. Some days you work while it’s raining some days you don’t. Some days your boss likes you some days he don’t. Some days you love it. Most the time you dont

I worked at BEI for 2 season as a truck driver not a bad job but no advancement or raises and the management/owners don’t Care about their men!!! Do not recommend wasting your time with them.

B.E.I. Is a decent place to work, it’s busy and full of movement from quarry’s to the highway! A fast growing company with lots of potential. Pay is less as it is a rural area but still competitive.
