This job is perfect for students or part-timers that wish to have some kind of flexibility in their schedule. The work-life balance is great and you have access to a big kitchen with a filled pantry. You clock in on your phone by yourself which is great, and depending on the job that you do, you can wear your earphones while working. I wouldn't recommend this job for full timers or people that wish to pursue personal fulfillment or development in the company because as this is a local retail company, there's not much place for development in my opinion. But if you're a student that wish to find a decent job without working at minimum wage and be on your feet all day long, this will be perfect for you.

The best part of working at 1861 is the teamwork.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Sometimes, it gets stressful when it's prom season when there's a lot of clients. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was a positive and collaborative work environment and good culture. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Helping clients and colleagues , handling inventory (mostly dresses)

The company is great for schedule flexibility, perfect for university/cegep students. Poor management can be frustrating, poor salaries no matter how long you've been there. You have to share things on social medias to have a better grade on your evaluation. Very stubborn on keeping things as they are (the website). 

All I will say, working here was the best job I ever had. It was a great job to have esp while going to school at the same time. They were friendly and understanding and made it very hard for me to leave to advance in my graphic design career. Amazing experience overall.

This workplace offers a flexible schedule, free food, fun events and awesome team, would be perfect for a student looking to work part-time. Although, there is limited career growth opportunities, but you can definitely pick up a range of skills. 

Any retail job is hard on your feet. Being up the entire time was rough, but if you get put into the right store with the right managers its a fun time

Poor management ,not safe environment for workers.The assistant manager will have they own preferred  person and they get more benefits.Rude customer.
