A typical day at work: Giving bus times, schedules
delays, detour and dealing with the same
unresolved issues that repeat itself daily.

I learned: that when employeee in key position do not work effective with other most times the end results in disaster and under productivity.

Management set bus schedule with understanding
what it is like to actually take the bus. Or
they will not allow a bus to miss a connecting
bus by a min or two.'Experience is the greatest teacher'. The bottom line is that management do
not care about the voice who has direct interaction with the man on the street who takes the bus.

Co workers: I could not do my job as effectively
with the help of my friends at work. We do our best to work with whatever little resources we
can use to help the customer.Eg we call dispatch
to find out info or plan another route if the
customer miss the bus.

Hardest part of the job:
Customers can be abusive for not being at the stop on time. Managment takes a lot of complaints
from customers but does nothing about it eg. Drive passed customer waiting at the stop. Buses do not connection on the major routes or run late.
Most times our information source comes from the customer's inquiries instead of our dispatch department.
When transit cannot fix their internal problems it results in the customers suffering for it eg
loose their job because of unreliable service.

The most enjoyable part of the job is when the
custome calls and he is in tune with the basic
information they need to give eg Major Intersections from and to destination.

•	Processed and promoted fare media sales in a fast-paced environment.
•	Handled cash, debit and credit card transactions.
•	Provided bus routing information as well as assist customers with planning their bus route within the GTA.
•	Responded to customer enquiries regarding various fare options.
•	Ensured all sales are recorded in Point of Sale (CLASS) and Station Point of Sale (PRESTO Computer).
•	Prepared end-of-shift reports and balance high volumes of cash and cards.
•	Deposited monies in the safe, ensuring bag contents match the deposit slip and deposit log.
•	Ensured customer waiting areas are clean; acting quickly to address any deficiencies.
•	Maintained a clean and safe work area.
•	Provided assistance in the training of new employees.
•	Performed other and similar and related duties to this position as assigned.

Typical day would begin by logging into the phone system. Making sure all my paper work was in order and my desk was clear of anything in case I needed to see my map. Phone would ring, i would answer and assist the customer with route planning or timing.
Learned to communicate properly over the phone.
Co-Workers were great teachers. They taught me pleasant phone manner.
Hardest part was the hours. Could have a 4 hour shift all the way up to 12 hour shift, and communicating over the phone and not in person.

- typical day included dealing with a high volume of bus passengers looking to load up their bus passes
- 5 hour shifts mostly at rotating locations
- great pay but no benefits
- management did not know how to properly motivate employees and created a depressing and stressful work environment 
- no room for mistakes, you get written up for making even one transaction error
- great flexibility and nice job to have part time

Brampton Transit was a great place to work. We were a very busy call center .Customers could call 7 days a week from 7:00am -9:00pm .It was only a part time and never going to be a full time. But we could get a lot of extra hours if you wanted. I only left there because we moved to Hamilton in 2013.

Amazing place to work. Great experience to be gained. Hardest part of the job is being unable to ease a customer's frustration. I enjoy working with and meeting new people and being that this is a front line job, I am able to meet people of varying backgrounds. My immediate managers are very helpful, without them we would have alot more irate customers.

The most stressful part is Passengers and weather 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Amazing love working for them.

Nice place to work for with no boss breathing fire down your neck. Only problem is that the job is in itself quite stressful and  that is because of  the location being Brampton. Otherwise overall a nice place to work in.

I left for personal reasons. It's great there. People are nice. Not stressful at all. Wages, benefits, pto are quite good. 
Only downside is the shift work. It's all based on seniority. New employees will be working nights once they pass the probationary period.

Having worked for 12 + years, it’s time to move on, have enjoyed my stay at Brampton Transit, had an opportunity to work with great people and have gained lot of experience in dealing with all kind of situations.
