Kids can be difficult to work with at times !

Friendly , you know what needs to be done and you do it !

Problem solving , learning how to get things done

Working for BSD as a sub is a low-paying, low-respect gig. Do not expect that it will open any doors to contract work. As Manitoba teachers basically have no real union, and you are a sub, you have little to no protection or recourse against any problems you may experience on the job. 

I like the job and got to learn new cleaning procedures  and meeting very nice staff. The hardest part of the job if you have an early shift . Is waiting for the  students to finish class. But over all, I'm happy working with them!!!

A good place to work especially if you are a single parent and need to have a same schedule with your kids.
The team is supportive, good cooperation between staff, and you can take sick leave when you need. 
Sometimes you may be mentally drowned but feel free to take a sick leave for 1 or 2 days.

Educational Assistants need to be paid when in-services and holidays so you can afford to work with students. Working  with students who need extra help is great to see them succeed.

Waking up early to get to work 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Excellent and well conducive environment.

I love teaching and the children I work with. But honestly, I feel taken for granted and not appreciated with this job. With the pandemia, there hasn’t been any specific guidelines directed to casual staff. The pay is half of what teachers make with no benefits. 

As a secretary I was always in multiple schools, with so many amazing staff and kids. Hours were great and always had something to do.

As  educational Assistant i really enjoyed helping and enabling the kids to strive for a better and brighter future

Loved my job, loved my co-workers, loved my admin and teachers. Pay was less than it should be, but that’s education everywhere! Flexibility was amazing! Felt very appreciated! 

Enabling environment for growth and progression. Emploet-employee relationship is encouraging. Concerns are attended to promptly. There ia room for inclussion.
