It was a 4 month Co-op term in ICT (Information & Communication Technology) 

My co-workers were kind, fun and very knowledgeable. I learned a lot there from that term. I learned all about printer hardware, about rollers, fusers, how the trays work and how to tell if the toner is bad or leaking onto the paper. I also learned how to configure network phones, create images using Ghost32 and learned some common issues users have with Microsoft office.

The majority of the day is spent sitting at a desk answering help desk calls and help the user solve issues remotely if possible. If not go out and fix it for them.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Although the pay is excellent, the team lacks psychological safety and does not receive adequate support from management. The work-life balance is poor due to demanding hours. While the nurses are hardworking, there is insufficient safety and support when responding to code whites.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The schedule does not promote a good work/life balance. There is not enough support from management. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
While working with a team can be rewarding, I believe the culture needs improvement. They can enhance it by providing employees the opportunity to share feedback and ensuring their voices are heard.

Understaffed, over worked, under paid, struggling hospital. 

-Work most weekends as a part timer, hard to get any 'special request' days off, usual was forced to call in bc of denied time off. 
-Scheduled multiple shifts back to back with 1 day off. (Ex:in for 5 shifts off for 1, back in for 5). 
- You pay for your own benefits.
- Pension is OK. Should be better for the workers
-Not good quality of life. 
-Very hard physically and mentally. 
-Worked every holiday in 2021 (except new years) even thou I was told I would get every other holiday off. 

System needs help, hospital needs funding, staff need to be paid better.

The culture of the Brant Community Healthcare System fosters attainment of new skills on a daily basis and offers a number of professional development courses and workshops to maintain your competence.

For the most part, everyone works as a valued member of the team. Of course there are always those who don't but on the whole it's a great place to work.

I never dread going into work which says a lot for this employer.
The hardest part is waiting to secure full time employment.

Working at switchboard we answer phones, help customers with payments, directions and general inquiries, monitor all the alarms for the hospital and are responsible for contacting all the doctors on call for different specialties. All my co-workers and managers are great, the only part of the job I don't care for is the hours, we work split shifts almost every weekend and being from out of town it is not working for me anymore.

Healthcare cuts affect every department and upper management is not involved or are overloaded.  Unrealistic expectations in daily task as most employees are doing what two people did in the past.
They want more done but will pay for overtime.  If you want to be a star in this work environment you will be doing it on your own time and without compensation.

Patient to nurse ratios are usually 6 patients to 1 nurse and that is their normal. They will make a bedspace in the hallway if it means getting more patients seen. Nurses will not be notified when doctors are on the floors and some doctors don't bother to see their patients.  I've had a doctor tell me "its the weekend" after I spoke on behalf of a patient and advocated for them. Some nurses couldn't care less about helping if you ask for them because they are "too busy".

In my last position I had the opportunity to work closely with various managers. They taught me a lot and I excelled at my job. The nursing staff always treated with respect (even when they didn't get their vacation). They understood that I did whatever I could do to accommodate them with juggling work and home.

Always an opportunity to learn and lots of training provided to meet challenges of health care today. throughout covid the work environment was difficult but safe.

I worked here for way to long! They never listen to their staff and keep adding upper management never fixing the staffing crisis of the frontline staff. They allow bullying and poor attendance with no consequences. I would not recommend people to work in this toxic environment.
