The quality of students is appalling and unfortunately, because this is linked to government funding, the student (technically) appears to be right.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
High turn-over rates for support staff and low-quality students.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Cohorts have morning afternoon or evening schedules so you can just choose what aligns with your day time availability.

A typical day for me at work is usually very busy. My daily work covers most of the Office Admin task. The most important work for me is answering phone call and doing explanation to our clients. I have had 5 years Administrative Assistant experience in my home country, so I can do good management for these task. The hardest part of the job is how to transfer my previous experience to Canadian experience. Fortunately, my colleagues are very helpful. They help me a lot. Even though I make some mistakes in my job, they still show their best respect to me.

I had a very positive experience with this organization overall. I had a supportive manager who encouraged me to pursue courses to develop professionally. Also, I enjoyed working with my colleagues, because they were very positive, fun, caring, proactive around issues that arose with clients or policy changes, & we supported each other during stressful times. We truly worked as a cohesive team to provide the best quality of service to unemployed Albertans who were in our program.

The Bredin Centre in Edmonton is a great place to work. Managers are helpful and always have time to answer your questions. Your coworkers are great people and help you learn as you go. The only thing is because it is government funded, sometimes contracts get cut and pay is low. The benefits and company culture make up for that. Everyone there is always willing to help each other out. 

This is a great place to work; colleagues are very friendly and cooperative and management is equally supportive. My job responsibility includes generating employment for Internationally trained professionals. While I enjoy doing my job which entails networking; meeting with employers and people searching jobs however the toughest part is to convince employers to hire internationally trained professionals.

The work culture is really nice but there are a lot of managers who oppose each other which makes for a stressful work experience. The pay is below industry standards and when you get a wage increase it is very minor such as a 63 cent per hour increase. It doesn't match inflation.

I have loved joining the team at Bredin, my coworkers have welcomed me with open arms and set me up for success. I love that my boss lets me make decisions and run with my ideas. I would highly recommend working at Bredin for others that want to come to work and make a difference. It was lower compensation but worth it for the balance.

As an Employment Developer I was responsible to connect with employers to talk about Bredin, share with them about experience and qualifications of our clients and invite them for employer session at Bredin Center for Learning.

Working here was a little boring but still good. Pay was decent. No job security since in any moment Government can cancel their contract and they could lay you off. Typical office job 9-5.
