I was an internal hire.  I was able to laterally move to many areas of the job from a foster parent recruiter, foster home supervisor, trainer, behavioural specialist, communication (social media) consultant... My husband and I still foster with the agency though I no longer work in any other capacity there anymore.
I loved my colleagues and workload was fair.  Senior staff have stayed a long time (as have other staff, as did I)  so advancement is not likely.  You do get a raise each year and a Christmas bonus which is really nice. 

Bridgeway Family Homes is a great experience for all to have. It is very independent; work is dependent on your schedule, you are able to do what both you and the youth enjoy as long as there is a learning moment within the session. They give you the freedom to obtain a therapeutic milieu where you wish to go, and to choose the activities that will happen for the day. 
The resources and help that the directors give are amazing. They are down to earth and easy to speak with. They have passion for helping youth and making sure there are people that are willing to help out the families and built professional relationships with not only the youth but the family members as well.

The families/clients  I have worked for have been the highlight of my career with Bridgeway. 
This would be a great job for someone who isn’t relying on it as their main source of income. Management is non existent with ZERO check ins- when I first started I always had in person training and constant check in from the service co-ordinated, over the years it has rapidly declined and I have never been fully reimbursed the actual mileage and time I worked, I feel like I poured my heart and soul into my clients and families for this company to nickle and dime my paychecks on a consistent basis- $22/ hr is extremely low pay for the job and there is no opportunity for raise and when you ask about being paid more they start to treat you poorly. 

Working here left me stressed. Considering it's and 24/7 on call job and you're expected to answer the phone at all hours of the night. 
Goals and expectations are unclear. I needed up working two roles as they could not find a replacement. This affected my ability to fully understand the new role I was in; which affected my job performance. 
People there will go behind your back regularly to your boss and complain without coming to you first. Also, you will want to take notes and do email follow-ups on all 'performance reviews', get the boss to sign these as they will lie about what they told you to 'improve' on. 
Overall, a toxic environment filled with codependent people who haven't learned boundaries. 

This is a fantastic organization with a encouraging and strength based  environment. Most enjoyable part is the communication and education provided. Working in this diverse environment, is exciting and will be at every job, career, where you live, shop is a diverse environment and with that comes varying characteristics including, religion, political beliefs, gender, ethnicity, education, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation and geographic location. people with different backgrounds, experiences and lives all work together to accomplish a simple goal it creates a fun, focused multi-disciplinary, exciting and accomplished environment.

Management is poor, follow through is almost non existent. This is not a good place to work. You are not allowed to ask questions about anything and are constantly expected to take on more and more work and you will never get a raise. They constantly change the policies you have to follow then change them back and most staff don’t even know what policies to follow. There is no HR, no way to express concerns. They will only hire you as an “independent contractor” so at any point they can give you 0 hours and there’s nothing you can do. They can cancel your shifts with a few hours notice and you don’t get paid. 

A good job for people who like to work independently because there is no direction or check in that ever happens. Important to build a strong relationship with the home you’re assigned to and the children. Other than that, there’s almost no communication with managers and higher ups. Only 1 or 2 managers that seem to actually care about the work, the other do not care. 

I enjoy working with the Families, children and youth as well as the Service Coordinator who is always available to answer my questions and address concerns. I would recommend them to any Child and Youth Worker or Social Service Worker who enjoys and is committed to helping the community!

Salary is on the lower side but you are well supported 
They give a nice bonus at Christmas :) as well as appreciation lunches 
Work Life balance is a bit work heavy but office is often at Home so that can be a perk.

It’s a great place to gain experience, especially if you’re right out of school. It can get stressful at times but overall it’s rewarding and you meet some great people. The hours are in the evening on the weekdays which can be great if you have a day job and some weekend hours depending on your schedule.
