Joining Brightwater as a Marketing Sales Representative for Ontario has been a fantastic experience so far. Although the role is new, the company has provided exceptional onboarding and hands-on training from various members of the leadership team. From day one, I felt supported and encouraged to succeed.

A typical day involves outreach, relationship-building, and presenting Brightwater’s offerings to potential clients. I’ve learned a lot about effective sales strategy, territory management, and the company’s unique value proposition. The continuous learning is one of the highlights — I have weekly one-on-ones with leadership that help address any ongoing questions and keep me on track with my goals.

Management is approachable, responsive, and truly invested in employee development. The workplace culture is collaborative, growth-oriented, and positive, with a real team spirit.

The hardest part of the job is navigating a new territory and building a client base from scratch, but the support I receive makes it manageable and even exciting. The most enjoyable part is the autonomy and trust I’ve been given to own my region and make a real impact.

Overall, I’m grateful to be part of such a forward-thinking company and excited for what’s ahead.


When i first started at Brightwater (Bartlett), the management had been fairly hands off as the system in place worked fairly smoothly. shortly after I was hired they had appointed new management positions without proper training or experience in the field of Senior housing outside of retirement homes. Lots of changes happened extremely quickly with little to no time to adjust for workers or tenants. in all of this confusion the app (UKG READY) was not properly set up for a handful of the workers including me. barring me from viewing my vacation time or submitting my direct deposit forms. after months of trying to contact some one to fix this, I was finally granted access, only to find out after roughly 4 months of being there full time the vacation hours i has gained were stripped away back to 0 without any sort of payout.  

Company is constantly pushing more work chores on workers while promising unrealistic goals. Such as, telling residents families staff can monitor every individual resident every 30 minutes with room checks while still following health plan, and opening and closing locked doors for visitors! Plus, breaks are constantly interupted if you are lucky to get one because you are training the uncertified staff.  And if you complain, they will look for faults on you!  Plus, Residents rarely have suffient supplies and you have to clean and fix broken beds, toilets, wheelchairs.

This is a great place to work.  There are of course challenges to every job, this community is no different.  There is always so much love from our residents and it's the best part of any day visiting with them. Leadership is learning to improve and moral is boosting.  Hopefully we can fill our community with likeminded, hardworking, kind individuals and excel. Each department is intertwined and learning everyday to work together more and more.  Only up from here.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The workers are very kind and accomodating. They take care of their resident very passionately. Brightwater is a home to be.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The job of a personal support worker is a strenuous job but if you are passionate about the job it wont be stressful to you. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is a peaceful one, embedded with empathetic people and the work culture is top notch.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
An engaging one and a good experience which has enabled me to have an insight of working with the resident.

Everyone has a part in their job and their duties. Do our list first to go help others. 

You learn so much working in a retirement home. Who can eat what who can't eat what. But always on a time line.

The management needs to understand the true meaning of "communication" that works in the front. 

The hardest part of the job is the best part of the job, having a lot of tasks and have little time to do it. Simply pushing yourself to the limits to achieve that task and feel better about yourself. 

The most enjoyable part of the job when you hear good job, hearing that residences enjoy their meals and desserts and bake goods.

This is a greasy company . They expect a lot from staff and will flip you in a minute if they don't like you. Expectations are high from staff as there is a high workload .Every now and then they flip you a donut for a pat on the back.Wages are poor. The staff that are there are very good. As with most private healthcare at the end of the day its all about the dollar not the resident.

I actually liked the work I was doing besides the fact that I was bossed around to do things not in my job description such as serving because of staff shortage. It's also crazy that I had both staff and residents shocked that I showed up after my first day. 

Once I found out that I was responsible for other staff members "after hours", I quit because that isn't my job as an admin assistant. If I'm done at 7, I'm leaving at 7 because I'm not a manager and I get paid hourly.

Change the job title and its responsibilities if those are the expectations.


Brightwater is an organization with a lot of potential and a strong foundation in serving the community. However, it would benefit from a focused overhaul in work ethics to bring out the best in its team and services. The core values of integrity, respect, and accountability could be reinforced to create a more cohesive and productive work environment.

Encouraging open communication, setting consistent standards, and providing training in ethical behavior and empathy could bring renewed energy to the organization.

Unfortunately, it is apparent that the company is for-profit. Poor/ unstaffed conditions, untrained and un certificated staff providing care to the people who live there. Un safe ratios and you can hear the workers talking about this in the halls. They can’t even keep their management- high turnover and too much work. Average cost is $6000 a month to live there and there’s only 1-2 nurses for 130 residents. They don’t even let you drink the coffee.
