Typical day at work starts with the daily meeting, which is fine but everyone's mood and idea for the rest of the day is based on how happy or angry the supervisor is. Management is the most unbearable and controlling people ever. Plus you will NEVER get paid for any holiday, or get any type of raise. Workplace culture is alright , depends on which employees you talk you. Some are felons which kinda feels like gambling going to work. The hardest part of the job is probably doing the work of 5 people and getting the stick end of the pay. That's why the turnaround rate is so high. You're overworked and underpaid and after every shift everything hurts. Most enjoyable part of the job would be maybe wasting your time. But it's bearable if you're in a money crunch. 

Its an alright place to work gets repetitive.  Management is pretty descent and fair if you have things going in in your life and talk to them about it they are understanding and accomedate you.  The pay is fair but sometimes i felt like i had to ask repeatedly or nah to habe a review done in order to be able to get a raise.  There is alot of good people to work with.  Sometimes theres also the odd lowlife to work with because they will literrally hire just about anyone.

The learning aspect of unloading trucks, pulling cables and using powersaw

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The operations manager is a bully, overly aggressive when talking to employees and doesn't let you defend yourself when accusing you of something.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very busy, too much gossip and the running down of workers.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy, powersawing, pulling cables, running lathe machine

Very high turnover rate. They are always looking for fresh blood as most people are able to find better work do. You know there's a turnover problem when Tuesdays are referred half jokingly as "top up Tuesdays". Pushes workers very hard, but very little in the way of compensation or benefits is ever offered. Most new hires don't make it more than a month.

Not the safest place to work as a there was a constant struggle between the older machinery not running optimally, high production and QC targets, and worker safety/efficiency.

very fast paced, more than a few Slackers walked around not doing much, but when floor bosses noticed your work ethic they would let you know they appreciated your hard work, and move you different locations, also they do try to hold on to productive/hard working individuals, pay wasn't great but some of employees are good people, and a couple of the managers  

a typical day is pretty fast paced and stressful, work side by side with 20-30 people in one plant, 60-85 people in all 3 plants, I've learned lumber grading, how to operate the machines, Lockouts, and much more.
there is people from multiple different cultures and had to learn how to communicate with them. the most enjoyable part of the job is the work, I like to be busy and active while performing my job, the hardest part of the job is slow days get very boring.

You know for John Brink being such a public figure here in PG he sure pays his employees like trash.  No one knows how to communicate to each other properly.  They just yell at people and get mad for no reason.  Take the time to explain things and maybe things will get done properly.  John Brink is just lining his pockets off the backs of hard working people.  Maybe if you’d pay us a decent wage then people would be more inclined to stick around and wouldn’t be living hand to mouth.

1st job in Canada and was offered a good position even with no experience in the field. This is a tiring job but worth the experience. Do not expect much with the forest industry since fiber supplies are dwindling down. Thus, work hours are curtailed. If you do not care about hard labor then this could be a good place for you but do not expect much.

Immature management, only qualified as a playground Bullies. Safety is practiced only when an employee can be held responsible for the slightest infraction. The serious safety issues which can only be resolved by investing time and money are completely overlooked, which appears to be company policy.
In the meantime, bully the employees and pay the fines, worst job I ever had.

Long days but you feel good after they are done. I learned how to change blades and keep my machines well taken care of so they run smoothly. Management is decent. The workplace culture is awesome many different kinds of people. The back does take a little bit of a beating but it's alright once you get used to it. The most enjoyable part was the people you get to work with.
