Broadmead Lodge is a care home in Victoria, BC. It offers many different options for care both at the end of life more complex issues relating to physical, mental, or intellectual states and in some cases allowing for individuals to relocate to a more comfortable environment.

Great place to grow and make a difference

Working at Broadmead has been a rewarding experience. The organization is committed to providing compassionate, person-centred care, and I enjoyed being part of a team that genuinely prioritizes residents' well-being. My colleagues were supportive, and there were plenty of opportunities to learn and develop professionally.

The work can be fast-paced, especially during busy shifts, but teamwork and communication help ensure quality care is maintained. The organization offers competitive pay and benefits, and I appreciated the respectful environment and focus on continuous improvement.



No recognition for a job well done. Management is miserable and makes you feel responsible for things out of your control. Hard workers are harassed and incompetent workers are put on a pedestal. Workload is incredibly heavy for the HCA’s. Some of the staff are wonderful, but it’s extremely cliquey and rumours spread like wildfire. Nothing is done if neglectful staff is complained about, so residents are the ones suffering.

Bullying was evident and when reported to management, they supported the nurses over lower job positions.  Understood that the need for nurses is paramount during these times however it is never ok to bully other staff.   The reporting procedure may just end up getting you let go in favour of the "more valued" people at this facility.  Beware, back stabbing is paramount as jobs are few and far between.  Pay and benefits were good.

Broadmead Lodge is a very well run establishment.  It is mainly veterans with a percentage of civilians. The staff are wonderful and caring about the seniors. This nursing home is very modern yet still maintains an overall comfy feeling.  Well over 300 people work here as it operates 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. You formed loving and memorable relationships with the seniors.

Very toxic especially with management

The workplace culture is very progressive.  The team is always looking to find ways to make small and big changes to improve the quality of life for the residents and improve the employee's experience.  It is not perfect, but when issues are identified they are looked at as an opportunity to improve versus a problem.
