One of the worst companies I have worked for.
The relatively new IT department they have created in order to cater to manage the IT applications and IT infrastructure of the North America business teams is run by very incompetent directors and VP. The management does not even have a proper understanding of the PMO ecosystem and hires very incompetent people. 
The Directors & VP in this department do not have any management experience and denigrate their subordinates.
Most of the time people in this department do not have much work to do as there is no proper oversight. 
The attrition rate for a department that has been in existence only for a couple of years is quite high and most subordinates have a very poor opinion of the way things are done in this department.
Being a commercial real estate company they can afford to do a sloppy job as money is not really a concern here. So you see many applications on-boarded and after a couple of months off-boarded.
I found it mind-numbingly boring since there was no higher vision in running this department and people were removed from projects indiscriminately. 
Most people in this department have very little experience or skills.

A company is well planned for their goal. Tasks are set up in detail for the staff to follow. You start with your day knowing exactly what you are doing and what needed to be accomplished.
It is a good company with talented people working there. There is a lot of thing you can learn from each other. The company also encourages and motivates their staffs to upgrade their skill and knowledge in various areas and provide training helping interested individual to achieve their desires.
Management is good. They know exactly what they needed and where to help out and motivate the staff.
A very friendly working environment. People taking their job seriously, respect and act professionally to each other.
As any company, once you get use to the system and learning curve, everything will become easy and present.
Achievement and professionalism give an enjoyable feeling while working there.

A typical day includes general maintenance duties that include but are not limited to replacing damaged ceiling / carpet tiles, repairing drywall damage, repaired / replaced door closer, maintained /adjusted sliding doors and revolving doors, painting walls, repairing / adjusting bathroom cubicles, servicing and training new employees to operate Kubota and Gravely snow removal equipment, operating a John Deere Skid Steer 240 with various attachments such as pallet forks, bucket and snow brush. 
Use of Excel and Word computer programs to create or adjust company forms and files, kept a parts and tool inventory for our department and ordered new tools and equipment as needed.

Really good work culture and a great team, from the front line staff up to the property managers. I really enjoy working for a company with high standards - building problems actually get fixed, not just patched, they want safety to be a mentality not just a policy, training for emergency situations is fun and engaging, and everyone is willing to help each other. Management is generally very good, very respectful, and communicates well, but sometimes sends mixed messages because they try to solve too many problems at once or we have to change to match the other properties. Senior management seems friendly but doesnt really interact with the staff. 

Construction Services Department

Constant interaction with leasing, legal, accounting and asset management departments as well as with the property and facility managers.

In addition to the base building work and capital projects I interact with tenants, review their leasehold improvement drawings and assist with all items relating to the building.

Brookfield provided me with an experience is a very large range of disciplines in our industry which i am very thankful for.

This company is the worst to work security for.  They hire guys with high education but no security experience . They're all scared of the homeless. Maybe in their countries they received diplomas but most of them are complete idiots. In fact I've never met more stupid People in all my life. You're not allowed to put your hands on trouble people. You instead stand there while being berated until the police arrive. The security manager is the dumbest of all.

My day starts around 8:45 am, I have a home office and function very well with. I typically start my day by confirming my appointments with Real estate brokers which enables me to present to Realtors. I present to over 200 Realtors in a setting and that is definitely enligthening, the ability to educate the public of an opportunity that exists.
I don't see any part of my job being challenging, I love challenges as it makes me think on my feet hence addressing them accordingly.

The future for Brookfield Properties team members is very exciting. The company is complex with many divisions and moving parts allowing for endless growth and advancement; however, experiences vary depending on where you work in the company. 

In my experience, every day is exciting and different, the people are incredible and the opportunities are endless. 

It's a great place for anyone who likes to continuously learn and work with/build relationships with new people.  

Come in get straight to work taking work orders from tenants 
Learned hands on skills using tools to fix problems in the building such as sinks, toilets, lighting and air filters

Enjoyable, fun, helping co-workers
Lifting heavy objects and back breaking work
Learning about different parts of building and requirements

Co-workers and my department VP were wonderful. Had a lot of support from all of them. Hardest part of the job was the amount of danger at and around the property and extremely large amount of day-to-day work compared to the low compensation. Most enjoyable part was working with my co-workers in my department throughout the city. I gained a lot of work experience and knowledge in different areas of my department, as well as others throughout my time with this company.
