I been employed to Ashley Park- Bupa Care home in West Clandon, GU4 for 2 years and half.I start as Kitchen assistant along with two chefs and slowly I start to cover the chef absences or annual leaves and cook for at least 25 residents and 5-6 staff.I cover a long term (6 months) three days per week a sick absence and did all the tasks related with the chef position.For company was very convenient because they had a chef paid at kitchen assistant rate.When was the time to accept formally the second chef position they offer me just an slightly 1.18% increased of my kitchen assistant salary and no enhancement for Sunday and Saturday or for bank Holidays.All on total £10/hour.The position it is just as chef assistant but you not assist a chef, you are the chef three days per week and paid as assistant chef.
I gave my resignation and I could not wait to finish the long and stressful
one month notice (to long in my opinion).I decided to not work ever never for BUPA again on my life.

Don't get me wrong I love my job (care assistant), always have, I've done it for 11years, but with BUPA its very different, you work all day, your constantly rushed off your feet.
now that bit I can live with, but having to do all of that for less than what the receptionist makes is appalling.
I've always seen it as the carers are the lifeline to the nursing home, as without them there would be no nursing home, but head office still treats them poorly when it comes to wages.

now I'm due to leave soon as I want my life back, and I want to do something completely different, but I'm going to surely miss the people that I cared for and the people that I worked alongside, as they are the most caring people I have had the pleasure of working with.
and there's always that one resident that will always make your day just that little bit easier to cope with.

My typical day at work is fast paced and demanding however, very rewarding and no day is the same.
I have learnt to work as a team and improve time management skills. It helped me to adapt to different situations quickly and comfortably e.g. staffing issues and emergencies. 
Lack of support and direction from management and are very demanding of the staff.
workplace culture is ok.
The hardest part of the job is working without support and direction from the management at all levels. Constant staffing issues leads to a demotivated and tired workforce which then leads to staff sickness, further adding to the already understaffed issue.
The most enjoyable part of the job is helping the residents.

I am a flexible all-round technical type. My English is basic, but who wants to communicate with them. My hobbies are gardening and driving, growing and collecting medicinal herbs. I also have work experience with them. I take care of my sick wife (Non hodgins lymphoma). I have a professional nursing course done through the red cross. I am currently doing support carer for my wife. All household chores are related to this. I have experience with construction work. I worked in Slovakia for 5 years with a construction company. I also worked as an investigator, but that was in Slovakia.

SHift usually starts with ADLs of the clients followed by prompting them to prepare their breakfast. this session is succeeded by exercises and rehabilitation of clients as per clinicians instructions. lunch and keeping residents back to bed marks the end of the shift. During the shift we, coaches, have to maintain an awesome infection control with hygenic environment around the clients. This may include prompting the clients to mop and vaccum their rooms or by doing them ourselves.

Bupa really is a company where the values are something the upper management live and breath. There is a big focus on how we impact the environment and society and I really enjoy being part of that. It is a very risk adverse company which gives me more confidence as a registrant but not a good company to work for if you want to cut corners or avoid policy. If you want to work in a highly compliant and engaging environment with great security and company benefits this is the place for you

Believing Bupa would be a reputable company to work for I would have to say this is quite possibly the worst place I have worked.  The main reason for this is the poorest management team I have come across. The is lack of communication and poor job progression. Very hard to get any help or support with training. It all comes down to compliance and tick boxing such a shame!

Clients would always greet me happily and i would felt comfortable working with them with ease. I learned how to care for special needs people and what treatments are required. Manager at Bupa was really kind and always willing to give you a break from work if you worked hard. The staff was always kind and helpful. The hardest part of the job was working in the dementia. The easiest part was working in the low care.

If you get offered a job with Bupa run, if you take the position remember you will be swimming with Sharks.  Especially Management.   Nice Home until BUPA took over.  Bullied and they lie if you speak up and not what they want to here look for another job they will make your life unbearable. Bupa policies are a joke not for the staff only self interested.
