Burnaby Hospital

This was an extremely difficult place to work, my work load far exceeded my expectations.
The Job culture was adversarial. As a result it was difficult to get any thing meaningful done.
The most enjoyable part of the job was going home at night. Even then I was still fighting them in my head and grinding my teeth.
Nobody seemed to understand what my position was all about.
My first boss was good to me and tried to protect me from the wolves. However she saw the handwriting on the wall and left
I however was left to fend for my self and subsequently had a bit of a break down.

As a volunteer at Burnaby Hospital, I find my volunteer job pretty fulfilling. Knowing that I make most of the patients happy just by visiting them and by treating them with respect and dignity makes me happy as well. To my surprise, the area I work in is pretty relaxed and welcoming, considering that I work in the Mental Health Unit. Overall, this place has a good work culture, although stressful at times, I still find my job here worth it.

The increasing number of patient's visit to the ED is  overwhelming. Everyday is overwhelmingly busy. It is a great place to work, benefits are no doubt the best in my opinion. You learn a lot working here, I feel like I work with the doctors and not just follow their orders. Nurses are able to place lab orders, ekg orders and x-ray orders per protocol without the doctors seeing the patient. Otherwise, doctors will never be finished with their job because of the volume of patients.

I have done my practicum at Burnaby hospital. It was good experience for me, because i learned a lot by working with different kinds of clients and health care team members. Moreover, this experience made me more confident to work independently.

Management was very good & flexible, workplace environment was clean & well run.  All staff, male & female got along well & if not we discussed problems. We all kept care plans up dated, Patients were well looked after

Great people to work with that care strongly about client care, the hospital provides a lot of education and is very supportive if you ever find yourself in a situation where you don't feel safe or you feel you could use extra education on a skill etc.

Lots of sick calls due to staff burn out resulting nurses taking bigger assignments. Staff will do their best to help each other out but at times they're maxed out in their capacity. 

Loved transcribing notes and filing including all I meet there. I enjoyed being there but had to leave to lay offs

Non stop from being to end of shift ( multi-tasking)
Never a dull moment
Management could be more understanding 
Enjoyable is coworkers 
Hardest seeing families lose their loved ones



It is always a busy day with lots of patients. WIth working environment with good patient nurse ration. Good working colleague interaction. Good time off. Accesibility of the hospital to my house
