I worked as a shipper/receiver for a year. This jobs pays well and there is lots of opportunity for overtime. But prepare yourself for long days or nights. The evening crew cannot leave until all work is done. Schedule is 3pm-12pm. The latest I stayed is 8am (yes 17 hours) and an average day is about 10-12 hours (50-60 hours a week). If you ask to leave or leave early (at 12) you will be penalized. The upper management is not great. The Lyn plant is the only un-unionized Burnbrae and it is very much their way or the highway. By this I mean that they have many rules in place, but they will only be implemented when it’s of use to the company, otherwise they don’t follow them. However, I will say the people there are pretty nice, even the supervisors (people you report to who actually work with you and not in the office). Personally I couldn’t do it any longer, but I did make a lot of money in my time there. If you don’t have a life and want to work your butt off just to end up being suspended for some petty bs which only shows how little they care about their employees, then this is the place for you. 

In conclusion: decent job, pays well, upper management does not respect you or your supervisors and is ‘all talk’ about how they treat the staff, especially the shipping crew. 

I’d recommend working a day shift in shipping, or get a job in the production department (line worker/packer) if you wish to work here.

this is a very fast paced environment and there is no “stages” to training - you learn as you go and you get everything thrown at you all at once. it’s make or break, and no matter how many times you make targets or exceed them it’s never enough. as well, everyone is under appreciated, good work and safe behaviour do not get commended nearly as often as they should. very strict about breaks - 15 minutes is literally 15 minutes and the managers really get on your case when you’re not back from break at the exact time. the majority of the employees that have been there for more than a year are toxic, catty, gossipy people and they will act bothered when you ask for help or assistance. a few certain employees get to act like they’re the best thing that happened to the company so they walk all over anyone and cry to the managers when you ask them to stop being so mean. 4 days guaranteed but if there’s bad eggs to be counted, guess what, you’re working fridays. 

Management treatment of workers especially those in the supervisory levels is at times reprehensible. There is a serious lack of professional treatment of workers in this plant that hardworking people would think twice to do something about it lest they lose their jobs. Nonetheless, benefits given are better compared to some companies and they compensate well. The staff are hardworking and most are teamplayers. It is a unionized company however the Union is incompetent and rarely fights for the workers. I have heard and seen too many complaints about it that people say their union fees are wasted. My conclusion is only apply here if you're in a tight spot otherwise look for better companies with better pay and are respectful of their workers.

Hard labour. From start to finish of shifts.  Lifting 25 to 50 lbs boxes and cages onto skids. You will end up with sore back shoulders arms and fingers from the cages.  Hot and humid and tired all the time when on shift.  There is a high turnover as people are not staying.  H/R is one person.  Try to ask a question.  And you get pushed away.  Day shift supervisor is a nice person.  Afternoon Supervisor hardly talks. But if you make a mistake.  Watch out. The new General Manager is a nice person. Good most times to talk with things. If your from the Philippines or you might last.  As that all that is there in the plant.  End of the story.

I was with an incredibly supportive team of coworkers.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The AP manager.  It was always a game if “where to stick the blame so they don’t know I don’t know what I’m doing”.  Being told to your face you are supported then hearing from others how your manager has thrown your entire team under the bus when it was the manager’s fault wears pretty thin after awhile.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Individuals made the difference.  Lots of community involvement.

Busy!  Very steady.  Always something to be done.

There is no “best part” of working at Burnbrae farms 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You’re told if there’s something you don’t feel comfortable doing that maybe this isn’t the job for you and get called fat then when you go to management they pretend they will look into it but nothing changes

Judgmental, stressful and all around horrible 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You go in and you start by helping on the production line which if your sanitation you have no training on the line but are still told “your slow” “just move”

This is the worst place I’ve ever worked management knows nothing they have key people in key positions that have no business in these positions because they have no idea what they’re doing very very bad place to work run from this place if you see an advertisement do not work at this place unless you want to great big headache and that’s what you’ll get really nothing good to say about the place people there nobody likes her job everybody’s upset hours are ridiculous expectations are way beyond pay scale

My typical day at work would be more or less helping out anyone who needs it, so being a team player. I have learned that hard work is needed for any successful job no matter how big or small at least for me. Most of my co-workers are hard worker some lack the appropriate knowledge because of lack of training and being on the job for a while have to do twice the amount of work. I seriously have adapted to the job so there are no hard parts just smile and go on with my day helping people witch would probably be the most enjoyable part as well.

This place is a make or break for a person. I definitely have realized no matter how much you do for them, you will get little recognition and just burn out fast. They make promises they cannot keep and promise things will get better but I’ve talked to the senior employees and they all say the same thing: Burnbrae never changes.
This place is great if you’re looking for a constant workout, but after work you are left tired, sweaty, and sore. The turnover rate is constant because the work is thrown on to you right away and you get little time to breathe. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people you work with can become a second family to you.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Very fast paced, not safety oriented,  themanagers and owners care very little about the employees. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They expect you to do your job and make up for the person working beside you that would rather stand around and talk.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It was very difficult,  always going home in pain. Always looking forward to your next day off.
