If you're submissive and don't care about being taken advantage of then this is the place for you. If you think an employer should be open, honest, listen to employees concerns, pay them a living wage, not spout lip service and not retaliate when you do speak up (ie. firing you or writing you up) then work anywhere else!  CAA is literally the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of working for. They call us "Road side heros" but treat us like "Road side zeros". High employee turnover rate, absenteeism and extremely low employee morale. Yet CAA still points the finger at employees instead of looking within.  Length of service means absolutely nothing. They will hire new employees to fill desirable positions rather then promote within. As stated by management " length of service means nothing here"  You're working in all weather conditions, 365 days a year on the side of highways with vehicles passing by you 3 feet away at 120 kph, going through MTO scales and inspections for just over $20 an hour after years of service!! Disgusting.....This company should be ashamed of how they treat their employees. This company is run under the definition of insanity. They keep doing the same things over and over again while expecting  different results. The vehicles are tracked by a GPS system. Now lets bring up that inward facing cameras have been installed in the work vehicles. You are being recorded your whole shift on top of the GPS system that tracks your every move. This is just another reason for disciplinary action and wage increase denials. Staffing is so short that you'll be pressured for overtime and frequently denied requests for vacation. Don't waste your time with this employer. It's a physical demanding dead end job that doesn't pay the rent! Look anywhere else.


I’ve had the pleasure of working at CAA Niagara for almost a year, and I can honestly say it’s been a phenomenal experience. From day one, I felt welcomed into a supportive, dynamic and creative team environment. The company culture is one of collaboration, friendship, and respect, which makes coming to work every day something I genuinely look forward to.

The leadership here is outstanding. They are not only visionary and strategic but also incredibly approachable and invested in the growth of their employees. They offer regular feedback in the projects, encourage professional development, and are always open to new ideas.

In addition, the work-life balance at CAA Niagara is excellent. The time flexibility and the understanding attitude towards personal commitments make it easy to maintain a healthy balance between professional responsibilities and personal life which for me, a mother of two young kids is very valuable. This support contributes greatly to overall job satisfaction and productivity.

The office environment itself is vibrant and inclusive, very cultural too. It’s a place where diversity is celebrated, and everyone is encouraged to bring their authentic selves to work. The facilities are modern and well-maintained, creating a comfortable and inspiring space to be productive. I personally like my personal laptop that I can bring home and meetings plus two screens in the office making the design process more accurare and less complex.

In summary, working at CAA Niagara has been an enriching experience. It’s a place where you can grow both personally and professionally, surrounded by a fantastic team and excellent leadership by managment. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a remarkable company. 

The management is utterly incompetent, more focused on micromanaging every tiny detail than providing actual leadership or support. There's a pervasive culture of distrust, where every move you make is scrutinized, leaving no room for autonomy or creativity.

Favoritism is rampant, with certain employees receiving special treatment and opportunities regardless of their performance, while others are overlooked and undervalued. This creates a deeply unfair and demoralizing atmosphere where hard work goes unrecognized unless you're part of the "in" crowd.

The toxic environment is palpable—morale is consistently low, and turnover is high because good employees simply cannot endure the constant stress, lack of respect, and blatant favoritism. Instead of fostering a collaborative and positive atmosphere, management thrives on blame-shifting, unrealistic expectations, and playing favorites.

To make matters worse, the company also fails to deliver on the promises it makes to its clients. The grand commitments made during sales pitches or negotiations are often not met, leaving clients frustrated and disappointed. This lack of follow-through reflects the broader issues within the company and further damages its credibility and reputation.

If you're considering a position here, think twice. The promises made during the hiring process are quickly overshadowed by the reality of a disorganized and hostile work environment. This is not a place where you'll grow, be appreciated, or be treated fairly—it's a place where you'll burn out, just like the clients will burn out waiting for the services they were promised.

Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.

The employees are not afraid of the changes its the empty promises we are all tired of. Always saying management, leadership roles and movements upwards in the company are reachable but they are only available to those who don't have an opinion or keep their true thoughts to themselves. You can go really far in CAA if you and the CEO and upper management are friends or previous co-workers. No matter how hard you work, extra hours, constantly going over the top for members and really showcasing your abilities you will never be recognized for these efforts. CAA used to be a great place to work, family oriented and employee focused but in the last 2 years the morale has dropped completely. The only thing that gets most of us through the day is knowing we are helping our members. Not because we know we can go home with a decent pay check to take care of our families because the pay here is a joke. The cost of living keeps soaring and the pay here never changes. Instead cut backs in incentives for all departments which management insists is for the best. We used to be about helping the community and employees felt important like they were making a difference. Now the CEO is more concerned about photo shoots, saving money and increasing our membership numbers. Reality check is more members does not mean a better company. More members means more money in CAA's pocket.

Working at CAA Niagara in the HR department has been a frustrating experience. The company seems to prioritize profits over its workforce, and unfortunately, this is most evident in how they treat their entry- and mid-level employees.

The pay is significantly below industry standards, and there’s little to no effort made to provide raises or bonuses. It’s disheartening when you see hard-working individuals being underpaid while the company’s upper management enjoys generous compensation packages.

Workplace morale is consistently low, largely because the company does very little to ensure employees feel valued. Feedback is often ignored, and there’s almost no focus on creating a positive or supportive environment. This neglect leads to high turnover and burnout, but it seems like the company doesn’t care about retention or staff well-being.

Furthermore, the opportunities for advancement are practically non-existent. They claim to offer upward mobility, but in reality, promotions are rare and only seem to go to select favorites, leaving most employees stuck in the same position for years.

Overall, it feels like CAA Niagara sees employees below managerial level as easily replaceable, rather than as individuals with potential to grow. Unless you're in it for a temporary paycheck, I’d advise looking elsewhere for a workplace that actually values and invests in its employees.

CAA Niagara is a joke. I thought working for this company would be great as I was a CAA member and had heard good things but I have never seen a company as well known as CAA so poorly run. When you think of CAA you often think of roadside assistance and that’s debatably the most disastrous department in the company. Management has no idea what they’re doing and just try to gaslight everyone into thinking they’re doing a great job. The pay is poor - the drivers aren’t even making a living wage and they make the most in the department (aside from the supervisors - who probably get paid sufficiently more to do less than half the amount of work).  Employees are quitting left and right because they aren’t valued and are treated like garbage. Favouritism is huge and middle level employees will get taken out to lunch while the people getting paid the least and doing the most amount of work/the only ones trying to keep the department afloat are left to drown. Every day you don’t think it can get worse then something happens to prove you wrong. The amount of incompetency is astounding. It’s too bad the public doesn’t see what goes on behind closed doors because it’s disgusting. If you need roadside assistance and have to wait 2-3 hours for service, you can blame management for that. 

Definitely not a place I would recommend to work anymore. 
It used to be a great company.
However, the last 5 years it has really taken a nose dive in regards to treatment and respect of their employees. 

Very rarely any positive recognition, unless it's for Senior Management and their favorites. 
In my opinion,  Management is the worst, pitting people against eachother, allowing bullying between employees, and towards customers, unfair and overwhelming work. Creating an environment of, " us against them."

The pay is under average compared to other available, similar positions and not worth the stress and anxiety. 

Management says, you can trust them and can come to them with anything. 
Unfortunately, this has not been my experience or anyone else's experience that I work with. 

When it gets too much to handle, you're told to deal with it/figure it out on your own or find another job and HR never has your back in these situations either.

Truly disappointing! 

Once upon a time I would have recommended this place for employment but now I say, it has a good front but quickly changes becoming a nightmare, I wouldn't wish on anyone I know and care for.

 

When I was hired at caa, I believed I had finally found a company that I could grow with, unfortunately, this was not the case for me. 
I experienced the true incompetence of management daily. Their complete lack of understanding about the most basic day to day functions is astounding. They appear to be empathetic, but do not hesitate sending out unofficial letters threatening your job if they don't see eye to eye with you. 
I've watched upper management plan vacations, and cruises, donating thousands to charities and foodbanks, but won't give their employees a livable wage. Instead offer mass emails detailing organizations and stores that offer cheap/free food. 
The truth is their is limited opportunity for advancement. And the little opportunity there is,  will almost always go to an outside hire. This is not department specific, but company wide. 

Lastly, don't be fooled by these positive reviews. To combat the honest reviews people took time to write, they "encourage" favoured employees to write great reviews bolstering their rating. 

There is honestly so much more I've experienced first hand, but unless management are willing to address the issues, my advice is to steer clear. 

For my short time at CAA Niagara I felt like the company put on a good face and it seemed like an exciting place to be. That was problem number one, everything was a front, not how things actually are. After a couple of months into the job, it just wasn’t for me. My manager was too preoccupied with their role to help develop me into mine, I was discouraged from asking for help from my co-worker, I was doing my best to learn the CAA Niagara way with little guidance and I felt I was set up for failure. Managers focus too much on your DISC style, so much it may become a label of who you are. They encourage a work life balance but tell all new hires that they don’t just want people working here that are wanting a typical 9-5. Be prepared to try to find a balance that doesn’t exist. 

There are less than 170 employees and they treat it as thought there are 500+ employees. 

Employees cannot be bought by cool swag and other appreciation items.

It’s unfortunate to have to write a terrible review on what is thought to be a wonderful company, but If your thinking about applying for your forever career, it’s most likely in your best interest to stay away from CAA Niagara.

Working at CAA Niagara has been an incredibly fulfilling experience, and I couldn't be more grateful to be part of such a fantastic organization. One of the standout aspects for me is the exceptional work-life balance. The company genuinely understands the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between professional and personal life, allowing employees the flexibility to thrive in both areas.

The workplace culture is another highlight. The environment is positive, supportive, and collaborative, making coming to work every day something to look forward to. Management also actively fosters a culture of inclusivity and growth, ensuring that every voice is heard and appreciated.
