Opening shift:
the day  would start around 6 am. starting by opening the lights in the store then placing the tills and counting them to see the balance of the day. Placing the news papers where it would belong and taking the ones from the day before and making the balance of it for the company to know how much we sold the day before. Taking the temperature of the freezers and fridges for the frozen food and the cold drinks. Assisting a co-worker by taking the dips on the fuel system. Starting to make the fresh coffee for the opening of the store by 7:30 am. Helping with demands in the clothing section to find a request online. By 7:30 am. Customers would come in and we would welcome them in and if they needed help with anything we would help them the best that we could to find what they were looking for or help them with any sizes for shoes or clothes that they would have liked to try on or buy. Working with the tills was easier then expected after new systems installed in the store. 

closing shift:
At the end of the day, we would have to make sure that the store was in order and products were in the proper space and not all over the store. we would have to stock shelf that were empty. Sign the tills out and balance them to make the proper balance for the next day when the store would open. Making sure that the doors were all closed and that the system was in order for the end shift. Has a supervisor we would have to count the safe and make change if the tills required it. Before leaving we would set the alarm system and exit the store. Always making sure that the doors were locked and that the lights would be closed.

This job involves basic retail duties such as stocking shelves, operating the cash register, and keeping the store tidy. Tasks are repetitive but easy to learn, and training is minimal. Shifts are straightforward with some busy periods, but nothing unusual for a grocery store environment. Management provides general instructions and ensures work is completed on time. Scheduling is predictable, though changes can happen based on staffing needs. Pay and benefits are standard for retail, with no major positives or negatives to note. The role requires standing for most of the shift and some light lifting. Interactions with customers vary, with some being pleasant and others less so. Overall, this is a typical retail job with clear expectations and routine responsibilities. It offers consistent hours and a steady workload without much variation. Suitable for those who want simple, steady work in a retail setting. 
 

- There’s no incentive for working here (no good benefits, no “Christmas bonus”, barely get a thank you for working all day at the air shows) 
- Management will make rules then not follow them themselves (Say no one’s allowed to leave early but will then leave early themself. Have black out periods for time off requests but then let one person book time off during the event for the black out period. Say no phones on the floor but will be on their phone at the till)
- You’re expected to do things that you’re not paid to do and are not in your job description (Sales associates doing DSRs, training shift and store supervisors, running the store when there’s no supervisors or managers in the store)
- Management will hire so many casual positions that there’s barely enough hours to live off of every two weeks, but we’re always understaffed most days 

A typical day would be to greet any customers that enter the store and assisted with any inquiries and information on the products and services.
Processes customers credit plans and handle cash.
Help keep store appearances.
I enjoy working with my fellow employees whom are all very friendly and willing to help when needed.
The hardest part of the job would be setting up furniture for display.
The most enjoyable part would be the interaction with customers and with other employees it is always a learning environment.
The management are friendly and entract with employees showing a great deal of support.

start by a forklift checkup. after I begin to build different types of lifts as well as tagging the lift. I get an order list that I work from consisting of different companies ordering. the hardest and the most enjoyable would be building difficult orders that can consist of very wide planks. The only down side is that in the winter time the orders do slow down, the orders thin out and I would switch roles from order buildup to cleanup and be consistently busy. At the start it is fairly difficult but with experience you learn to keep yourself busy.

It was a very nice job itself but communication tactic and management should be review.
Spy each other and report everything we see, was strongly encouraged there, which made an extremely bad and stressful/no trust type of working ambiance/environment. Also, if you would please the management you would get more hours than the others but if you would make one mistake you would go right back to bottom of the line making very hard to budget yourself there. 

Working for canex has made me such a happier person. It’s opened my eyes to what I can do and how good I can make people feel. The manager and other staff are honestly the most amazing people on the planet

This is a terrible place to work. Management is horrible and not supportive at all. Supervisors are no better. People here are phony and constantly creating drama, making it a stressful place to work. Just awful. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place.

Paid less compared to competitors. You can move around to other positions provided no department would be left understaffed/undertrained by your departure. Coworkers were amazing. My supervisor always made sure I had the time off for school. Union tries to support staff.

fine place to work with great policies and intentions, provides great service for our Honorable military members. management was excellent and workplace was clean safe and a pleasure to be associated with. highly recommend anyone to work for the company.
