Working at the call centre for Cantalk we assisted with information for a client, for their customers calling in. It was easy and pretty straight forward. Anything beyond our scope would be directed to the client.
The other part of the job was language interpretation that was done at times onsite but was mainly done offsite (from home). The Language interpretation was flexible in terms of scheduling - you could pick your own schedule, change your schedule when needed or even sign in to work even if you weren't scheduled at that time.
I enjoyed working from home and setting my own schedule. The part I disliked was, even though you were signed in, you only got paid when you were on a call (paid per minute). You could be sitting there for hours and not get paid with no calls coming in.

I was hired years ago to sell The services offered to Corporate clients.
I was promised an office. 
I received a cubicle with a device under my desk to track air quality as there were reports of asbestos in the building
I was not allowed to make face to face calls, began coughing , even blood and stayed home for a few days due to an illness.
No Training , was bored. And was fired. 
I had asked for one half day extra every six months to get an appt as I had developed a medical issue. The following Monday I was fired . It was the best day!
I wasn’t allowed to talk to those in the call centre. I was so used to being successful and prided myself in front of the client, I was happy to leave.

They keep advertising that they need new interpreters for minority languages but do not use the ones they have hired. The supervisors and management are very good at pleasing the paying clients but poor at listening and resolving interpreter complaints.  And when interpreters provide negative feedback about their management or defend a complaint they bring against an interpreter, they put restrictions on your profile so you do not get calls patched to you. Yet they keep saying they lack enough interpreters.  They charge 2% admin fee to provide basic pay services. Is this even legal?

Nice place to work and practice English language and people skills. 
It really helps to build more vocabulary, develop customer service skills. A lot of learning about structure and work of different organisatio. There are commitment hours, but I can log in any time as well beyond my working hours. Enjoyable part of job is a  feeling like I help people from my community to resolve a problem or receive important information. 
Management is nice, no micromanagement. Payment is on time, once a month. The benefit is work from home (especially in winter). 


The company has been consistently adhere to high quality of services for its clients and employees. The management team has aspired to keep updated with clients' constant demand for technology and mode of service delivery, striving to maintain smooth communication among its large base of customers and its employees. The business has a good vibe in terms of having a friendly, respectful, and good team spirit environment.

they asked staff to leave whenever they want to when there's not much to do at work.
it's the most insecure job I have ever had. 
The supervisor constantly yelled at people when it's not reasonable. For example, we are not allowed to use a cell phone at work. supervisors will be yelling people not to do so as they are checking text messages or playing online games on their phone.

I would arrive at the office and punch in then log into my computer and wait for calls to arrive. If you work an 8 hour day you get two 15 minute breaks and a 30 min lunch hour.
Coworkers are friendly. Hardest part of the job is dealing with rude people on the phone. Most enjoyable part of the job is being able to read while waiting for calls to come in.

Always check your pay cheques. They put fewer hours than you have actually worked.

They won't pay you for your 45 hour long training unless you complete working for at least 160 after being successfully hired. This is illegal.

Cantalk is a great place to work but not enough hours for full time at the moment. It is a pleasant place to work for pocket money. The people that I have chatted with are friendly. So far, I interpret for Court and the police. Right now I am taking a class at the University of Winnipeg to help with being an Interpreter.

The company has extremely incompetent managment with no education.
They literally don't know what they're talking about. They shouldn't be allowed to work, let alone manage.
If you want to be cheated and treated unfairly, then this company is for you.
