Working for the CAN has been one of the greatest experiences of my life! After working for a company that didn't care about their employees' CAN showed me how you deserve to be treated in a job. They respect boundaries, your time, your dedication, and your willingness to learn.  CAN gave me the experiences that lead me in a positive direction in my professional career. I can honestly say this is the best job I've ever had. Never once did I feel unsupported with any issue I had. I started as a support worker and now I work in management and I love it! They are supportive of people moving onto their end career goals and will work with you to help support you getting there.

A typical day at work is arriving to the pool or gym with our uniform ready to go and we discuss whose working with what child and what they need to work on. Sometimes it can be challenging, but also very awarding helping kids with autism as long as you are patient and willing to help them. Canucks Autism Network does a great job with the amount of support workers/volunteers to help the ratio on each kid which makes things easier. It gives a great overall "teamwork" experience which I really enjoy. Shifts are short because it can be super hard to be patient for long periods of time. This job isn't for everyone.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The atmosphere is great and you get to help Autistic children and youth explore various sports in a Community setting.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I have not found anything stressful.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Positive family type atmosphere

Lots of support staff to provide resources and workshops to teach you how to effectively work with children with autism through a variety of activities.  In addition, you are hired among like-minded individuals who are not only friendly, but supportive in the challenges that you endure together throughout the program sessions.

The staff was supportive and i enjoyed going to work. I worked my way up, I started as a volunteer and loved it. The next year I was a support worker and this past year a skills coach. The company wants you to succeed and it is encouraging, positive environment to be in. There should be more companies like this in the world.

The Canucks Autism Network is a fantastic organization that encourages children with autism to get active in their community. They provide families with support and encourage children to get outside their comfort zones

Workers are all fun to work with. The programs for the kids are fantastic.  Possibility to work more hours by having more programs available other than mainly in  Vancouver would help with getting more hours. The competitive wage is nice too.

An amazing place to work at! The team is super friendly and you'll meet some stunning people there! It can definitely be a stressful job at times and it's very fast-paced, but if you like working with kids I 100% recommend it

Loved working with CAN, always learning having fun here. Working with them for another session now! The pay is pretty good too, working environment is inclusive and welcoming. Highly recommend to work with them!

This organization offers inclusivity, life skills, basic fundamental skills, and community building. They have been amazing to work for and I will continue to do so.
