I work independently, planing days menu and amount. Preparing food, while at the same time managing cash register and serving customers.
I have to place order for the products for the week that we use. I do schedules for the helping Students and also do their hrs. and pay. I also manage two other team members. I am responsible for any problem that arises at workplace.
The hardest part is to manage all my work for the day such as planing,preparation,serving, customer service,ordering, running production line, cleaning and doing cash in given time each day.
The most enjoyable part is to see satisfied customers, enjoying our products and trying new items on the menue

When I would get in I would have to start working on getting food in the oven cooked and ready for first break, have to have it all timed out when things would be done and how long then from there get the food for lunch going. When break and lunch came I had to serve the kid/teachers, or be on the cash register and deal with the money. When not making food there would be dishes to clean and shelf's to stock and get things ready for the next day, at the end of the day we would make sure everything is clean and locked up then we would ring out the till and call in our end of day sales and then deposit the money at the bank.

I loved how most days the kids would tell us how much they liked the food we made or how friendly we were, but just being able to see the kids happy from what we did, and I also enjoyed my co-worker.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Making food for the kids  from scratch and watching them enjoying the food it was  very rewarding and satisfied 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working with people who is emotional and physical unstable and often over load of work due to short stuff！ 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
All the workers are contract (seasonal ), don’t pay well and no benefit at all !

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Listen to manager telling us to prepare or do his work and go for long wash room break multi times a day whim about how tired he is regardless we are all multi tasking for him already ! When regional  manager came  he took all the credit for himself not shy at all !

Preparing food for students and the elderly

Too many mixed messages from management.

Work environment acceptable.
Culture needs improving.


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Organizing and monitoring the team. 
Preparing dietary restrictions.
Ensuring all quotas are met to company standards.
Ensuring all food safety documents are filled and filed.

No training, high expectations from management.  Pay is very poor and a lot of gossip and favouritism.  You’re voice is not heard.  New management desperately  needed and better training and support systems needed to be in place.  Lots of criticism.  Not worth attempting to explain yourself management are all close friends.  They don’t take time to teach or guide and their extremely high expectations without training  are really pathetic.    Unless you’re psychic I don’t recommend this job.

The management  team  they didn't give a butt about anything  always threatening  your position

Work was ok as long as management  was not around

Fast paced  and  fun to deal with the kids

I enjoy working at the high school cafeteria providing meals for the kids.
Canuel Caterers is a great company and great people work here. Both my cafeteria managers I have worked with, and all my regional managers have made coming into work a great experience.
If you’re looking for part time work with alot of time off, this job is for you.

I found that it is easy, fun and it is a fast-paced job at the school cafeteria. The 2 responsibilities at the job is serving food and managing the line-up effectively. My supervisor told me to send 5 at a time.

Extremely high expectations with low wages, no understanding for personal lives, the people in charge don’t care for their staff, only money. If you want to make a complaint it goes right to the people in charge and nothing will be done. Save your time and mental health. Work  at McDonald’s instead. 

Working for this company was eye-opening. There were always new things to do during the work day, and each day was never exactly the same. The days were demanding and fast paced, but enjoyable. There are a great group of people working for this company, and there is nothing bad to say about any of it.
