It was my first experience to assit project managers and provide administrative and financial support. I've created an internal system to insure a good organisation at the Research Unit I was working for. My experience and leadership was appreciated and they provided me the chance to work with another units and projects. I've learned a lot of the internal system and I was available to provide my services as a consultant for another administrative technicians.

In a typical day at work I was called to update financial budgets, to prepare budgets to ask for research funds. I was in charge of all the purchasing (equipment, office supplies, etc...), to manage all staff requests, new arrivals and departures. I had three different offices and titles (as indicated on my cv) all of them to administrate all expenses and work in collaboration with the accounting department for the end of the month and end of the year conciliations.

My co-workers were very professional. Multicultural athmosphere and very interesting people.

The hardest part was to always be at the last minute to prepare big reports and administrative tasks. There was a constant rush hour each day of the year.

The most enjoyable part of the job was to be available to have a multitude of different tasks and to have new objectifs and to keep learning and progressing.

A typical day at work, start by answering on emails. Later I start going into the projects that I am working on, most of the time are acquisition projects. So, first I start looking and reading about the technology, then i meet the users to define their needs. Once defined ,I start searching for the medical equipment and the potential suppliers. Then I start contacting them and negotiate the price. Also, other than acquisition project, I am responsible of planning a quality assurance system implementation in the department. So, I am currently reviewing all the processes and also I am measuring the users satisfaction.
The hardest part of the job is trying to meet the doctors so I know what they need. Planning a meeting with the users is not easy and it takes a while until we can meet them and define their needs because most of the time they are very busy.
The most enjoyable part of the job is working with a multidisciplinary team (engineers, technicians, procurement agents, doctors, nurses,...)

Productive, great working environment and wonderful colleagues to work with. I have gained a lot of experience working with CHU Sainte-Justine and developed many skills most especially my ability to plan, develop and establish long and short-range procurement and contracting plans. With an extensive background successfully applying strategic purchasing processes and initiatives to minimize costs while optimizing saving margins, I have become adept at ensuring prices align with corporate financial objectives. Additionally, I excel at researching product offerings, comparing prices, and networking effectively with suppliers.

Although its administrative core promotes healthy behaviours and aims to care for its employees, there is a wide discrepancy in between research teams of the Research Center. Researchers are entitled to manage their teams as they please, sometimes with disregard for regulations, and these are not easily enforced. This tends to create unfairness and frustrations. Salaries are not competitive, benefits are no more than OK. The main Hospital center (CHU Sainte-Justine) offers an acceptable range of services.

i think for me it was trying to please everyone with you should never do people will take advantage of your kindness

it was very pleasent with he patients but toxic with the staff

very busy always on the move witch i really like.

Amazing and dynamic team of OT’s that support each other. Huge learning opportunities

Fast paced environment and 3rd level care 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Fast paced but with lots of learning and teaching opportunities, supportive team, lots of resources, requires a fast learner

-Having to take care of children from all ages, all illnesses (for e.g. playing with a 6 year old while her mother takes a break to go eat)
-Gained profound respect for life in general and even more respect for the staff who hard work in such a demanding environment. I've learned how to approach children and became more comfortable doing so.
-Witnessing the children's resistance and joy through all of it is definitely the most enjoyable part of the job.

I love my team. It is home away from home.

Making a mistake while caring for our patients 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
We have good days and bad days but at the end of the day, we are like a big family.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
There is nothing typical about the work we do. Everyday is different.

Receive calls from patients relatives and internal staff.
Call ambulance and manage files for internal or external transfer of the patient.
Appropriate usage of documentations for public and Government.

I have learned a lot when I was working for Hôpital Sainte-Justine.  Very nice environment.  As I said previously, it was sometimes hard to be surrounded by sick children but it gave strength to continue our hard work.
