CIK is a fairly young company in the telecommunications industry. Needless to say, this meant that there was little to no structure in most departments and a lot of stress. However, this very quality made it a very fun and dynamic environment. There was not a moment to waste or sit idle. For me that was a positive aspect of working at CIK Telecom. It meant I could bring my ideas to the table and have them be realized. It also helped me gain management experience very quickly into my career. 

Because it was such a fast paced and growing company (rated 25th fasted growing Canadian company by profit 500), I found myself growing from a sales specialist to a team manager and customer relationship manager within just a couple years.

They do drilling, civil, hydrovac, and cable.

The company is a dumpster fire, always losing money on bad deals and even worse project management. 

HR is very shady

You will be required to work yourself to the bone while never recieving a raise unless you fight the owner and HR for it. 

Most the work is shotty and the infrastructure they build is littered with problem after problem.

They sign off on large contracts for YTN and others stating that the infrastructure is proofed when its not.

Overall, if you need some experience in telecom, its a place to start. Get some experience and move on to a company that actually cares about the work and people.

Absolute terrible company, no understanding of the industry, wages or how to handle customers / employees.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The entire company was terrible, but management was like nothing I’ve ever seen. Complete chaos.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Terrible hostile environment, if you don’t work 7 days a week you get fired.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Go to the yard, wait around for hours for management to figure out where we’re going, go there understaffed and unequipped and do a hack job.

Working in Technical Support at CIK Telecom has been a highly positive experience. The company provides excellent tools and resources, making it much easier to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues efficiently. Management is approachable and genuinely cares about the well-being of the support team, not just the metrics. The collaboration between the support, network, and sales teams is seamless, which helps us get to the root of complex issues faster. I highly recommend CIK Telecom to anyone looking for a stable and rewarding career in telecom tech support.

This company would be great if they weren't so cheap on everything especially pay, a company making this much money but doesn't want to pay it's workers, no sense of job security as you can just get fired just coz the foreman doesn't like you, not coz you can't do the job  and that's where the problem is, they are always hiring new guys every week, anyways I wish them the best. I can no longer work for pennies to the dollar. 

Perfect job for new hydrovac operators looking to gain more experience, experienced operators try else where, they will never pay you enough 

It’s rare to find a telecom construction company where management truly understands the realities of the field, but CIK Telecom gets it right. As a Hydro-Vac Operator, I really appreciate that dispatch and field supervisors are realistic with scheduling and listen to our feedback regarding site conditions and equipment needs. The camaraderie among the crews is excellent, and we work really well with the fiber teams we are supporting. If you take pride in your work and want to work for a company that respects your expertise, this is a great place to be. 

Working as a Hydro-Vac Operator at CIK Telecom has been a great experience. The company genuinely prioritizes safety, which is crucial when we are daylighting utilities for fiber deployments. You never feel rushed to cut corners on a dig. Management also does a great job of keeping the hydrovac trucks and equipment well-maintained, which makes the day-to-day job much smoother. The pay is competitive, and there is usually plenty of opportunity for overtime. I’d highly recommend CIK to other operators looking for a solid, safe, and reliable company to run a rig for.

My team leads are incredibly supportive and always willing to jump on a call to help de-escalate a tough situation. The scheduling is fair, and the company genuinely respects work-life balance. It’s refreshing to work for a telecom company where employees are treated as valued team members, and where helping customers actually feels rewarding.
