It is a completely cutthroat place where people will cut you out at the knees just to get a full-time position. If you are not friends and family management does not care whatsoever it is a bunch of small minded people wasting money on projects that should be done way faster and for less. Most of the people there have no real world experience in working working for the city is all they’ve done and it shows. It is a very petty place to work and if you take pride in what you do I would not suggest working there . The fact that no matter where you’re working the entire place drives back to the shop for lunch and breaks is the biggest waste of time ever. The only way to move up in accomplish anything is to know people. If you are not a full-time employee they give you no real guidance or discipline they simply trust what other employees say and if those employees don’t like you they can talk trash about you and that’s the end of you.

Vacation, holidays, and weekends off

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Extreme lack of leadership, completely disorganized, and constantly shifting priorities. Zero cooperation between departments, and general lack of competence from management.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic and poisonous work culture. Complete lack of respect for staff, their skills, their time and their efforts.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Constant shifting priorities, extreme frustration. Unreasonable expectations and timelines.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great place to work and live.  Amazing position, adequate responsibility and accountability 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
None.  This job was not stressful and very fulfilling 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very good.  Everyone there is great.  I thoroughly enjoyed working there until they restructured

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Facilities and project management.  A lot of oversight on my team, contractors.  50% office, 50% in field

Although some nepotism still exists within the corporation there is a new thinking started about hiring.
What's the current jje job evaluation there is no room for advancement.
Training and education are delegated by management and not always the best decisions are made on where a job should be going towards in the future.
And the absence of valuing senior employees is very prevalent.
At this Corporation senior employees are looked at as a liability rather than an asset.

The training was nice when it was provided

Management doesn't know what way they are going

The guys you work with are a great bunch of ppl

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
7 to 3 or 6 to2 depending on what you are doing and the tine of year

The job itself was ok although to call it office administration is definitely not telling it like it is. This part time position covers everything from office admin to representing the BIA at annual conferences to organizing events. The rate of pay for what the position required was low and the board manager at the time was passive aggressive. 

-get there, talk about what the event is and what we'll be doing
-put coffee and tea on 
-walk around with platters of food 
-serve to people
-clean up their dishes and gather napkins and such 
-conversed with customers 
-my management is great and so are the people i work with i love working there

I worked there for a few years and noticed that a lot of the workers got away with not being productive, particularly the older men who had been working there for decades.
This caused a lot of complaints within the city but when I left, they were in the process of starting to restructure so hopefully things look up for them!

Working for the City of Port Colborne was an enjoyable job, I spent my days maintaining soccer fields and weed eating around fences. I also had to work inside the arena keeping the ice good for hockey and skating. I had great co workers they were all great to work with and my bosses were great. they were able to leave me to my job and i always got compliments on the good job i did.

It's a great place for a student to work, with great hours and a decent salary, but there's a lot of issues that happen with the full-time staff and the students more often than not get dragged into it.  Other than that, I would recommend applying because it is a great place to work, and looks great on a resume
