What is the best part of working at the company?
The pay and the few good people working there 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Micromanaging from management, not being aloud proper time for maintenance ( tape and zip ties are pretty much what holds their equipment together).

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is pretty toxic, management expects everything to be fixed at the drop of a hat.

There is no really training program in place and it is hurting their production.

Management can’t seem to figure out that they are the issue in the majority of the problems and issues with in the plant resulting in a high turn over rate in all departments.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Shifts are 12 hrs ( you start at 7 or 8 am/pm for 2 days /2 nights) or 8 hrs ( 7 - 4 Monday- Friday) and you are not aloud to leave the building at anytime during that time even on your breaks.

Breaks depend on which department and what schedule you were.

Most shifts were very busy and it helped made the time go by quicker but on night shift some nights you would not even get to take your first break until 2 or 3 sometimes even 4 am due to being busy and in the maintenance department it is a skeleton crew on nights ( 2 Millwrights and 1 electrician).

On the surface, it seems like a great opportunity. Management seems pleasant and money is good for the area. You will discover that your day for the most part will rotate between several production lines relieving breaks for the article counters on bins that  are filled by a continuous conveyor belt that does not stop. Other lines have automatic stackers that are fairly busy and prone to jamming, so it can get overwhelming at times. You wont be in the union for a few months so don’t expect to escape this role for some time. Folks wear gym gear even in winter so heat and air quality is something you will deal with, especially near the ovens that dry the products. The workforce is diverse and consists of mostly 5-20 year folks. I assume there is a lot of turnover as most were indifferent to new faces. They have of part time and student opportunities for those looking to pay for their education as well. If you have a strong back and don’t mind waiting your turn in a union seniority food chain for better opportunities, give this place a shot. They work 4 and 4 (DDNN) shift schedule so there is lots of time off, bank days and a decent benefits package after 6 months in…downside is the heat and physical nature of the job.

Watch who you talk to here. Not everyone is your friend, and you'll learn that the hard way if you're not careful. The pay is decent, the benefits are real. I won't lie about that. But if the social environment is toxic, your mind suffers, your health suffers, and no paycheck fixes that. If you're tough-skinned and money-driven, come on in. But I'll be honest if you're not built for it mentally, don't bother, no matter how good the compensation looks. You can try, sure but listen to your gut. If it feels right, stay. If something feels off, start looking for the exit and move fast.

I honestly don't know how I lasted 5 years. But I'm glad I got out. Now I serve my country it's hard work, but I'm happy, I have pride in what I do, and my quality of life is genuinely better. The difference in workplace culture is something I can see clearly now, looking back. At my old job, I can't remember a single moment where I genuinely laughed a not once. There was no room for it. But where I am now? I can't think of a single day that goes by without laughing about something. That contrast alone tells you everything you need to know.



Some places pay you well to slowly wear you down. Know the difference.

If you need a job to pay off some bills or save some money then CKF is an alright place to do that. Starts at $19/hr and lots of options for overtime. However, you’ll be working none stop at a machine that hasn’t been properly serviced in decades and you’ll literally be sprinting around trying to catch paper plates or berry boxes. Management doesn’t care how hard you work, they’ll speed the machine up on you anyway. Worked there for 1.5 years and hated most of my time there. Used to be a decent job a couple decades ago but the union is useless and won’t fight for a wage that keeps up with inflation. I ended up as an operator but dealing with management and the poorly working machines on a day-to-day basis isn’t worth $24/hr. If you have the option, work somewhere else. Also, they’ll tell you the schedule is 4 on, 4 off but it takes a whole year or more to get on that schedule. You’ll be working whatever 4 days/nights they need you which can really mess up your entire week.



To whom it may concern do not apply if you can this place is brutal to work for you are on a machine or the end of a line for 12 hours no support alarms all day and this is the good stuff this place has is a very stressful smoke filled mold growing in the trenches and walls atmosphere there is so much dust in the air your lungs will hurt and you will cough black stuff management well what can i say they seem nice in the beginning but watch out and your back cameras are there friends oh ya and your coworkers they will stab you good if the can for there benefit so if you really need a good job and you want your health look else where and do not regret your choice the employees pay two tier benefit system now do not get hurt it is a very dangerous place and always has wcb there so good luck in your choice 

So, where do i start?? First off, floor works get paid to much, as a supervisor you will see quickly that you work harder then most of the floor ops and they get paid almost as much as you. And if they work OT they get paid for it, as for you as a supervisor you do not. Your main managers will treat you like a worn out tire and will run you till your flat and cant work anymore. Everyone position there is doing 2 to 4 peoples jobs because its easier to pass the buck then to just do your own job. Get used to wearing multiple hats, having to deal with grown ups that cry more then a 4yr old, toxic environment when you see maintenance personnel working OT every day and not doing anything. Ask yourself why there is always supervisor positions open here??? Someone leaves every 6 months because of the poor management team.

I was an employee at CKF for 15 years and was hired in 2006. The pay is above average for the type of work, and you'll either love or hate the 12 hour shifts. The problem with this company is the management and why I left. There is a transition going on with trying to change the culture at the Langley plant, but it is slow. Many managers are manipulative and mean spirited. It isn't uncommon for employees to be written up or fired for single transgressions of policy. Expect to be fired within your 3 month probation period for any instances of tardiness, missed shifts including sickness, and any safety infraction or missed production targets.

Money is important, but sometimes money isn't enough.

Machines not working properly and the speed the company runs the speed.Speed on machinery would  be fine if the machines worked  better.

It is a very hot work environment and fasted pace to keep up with the packing machines.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I was supervisor.My day was filled dealing with employee issues and making sure the machinery were up and running.I had to do coaching as well payroll.My 12 hour days were full and busy.

typical day at work would be ,reaching on the job at 6:30 am and change into my work uniform and head to the shipping office to be place or teamed up with a co worker and a machine. The usual work day is a 12 hour shift from 7am or 7pm to 7pm or 7 am., receiving 4 15 min. breaks and one 30 minute lunch.
Some of the skills I learned was the importance of time management and the importance of team work. The workers at CKF Inc. are one of the best co-workers I've ever had to work with they are always there to support and help you when you need it.

Responsible for everything, while in control of nothing.

Insanely hot most of the year. Busy and dirty.

Come in, find out where you're posted, start counting, bagging, pressing and packing. Product just keeps coming. Quickly. Many different products,  configurations and packing. Then you rotate and do it differently but the same on a different machine. Anywhere from 4 - 14 rows coming. All the time. And it's hot. So hot.
