Dont even know where to begin. If you want corrupt management, dirty politics, and useless staff.. this is the place to be. Supervisors, chefs, management just stand around with their hands in the pockets. Not knowing what to do half the time. If you are the type of person that wants to make a positive change.. you will be the one singled out and attacked by union staff. With no support at all. They say a "multicultural" environment... but really only one kind. If you say anything.. they will attack for discrimination. Even though it's the other way around. Favoring at its finest. Never met a boss that literally does nothing. Never met management that's completely scared of the union. Dont bother wasting your time if you're taking a position above union. This place will be closed down eventually and staff that is part of this place.. will have no where to go. So much to say.... but find out for yourself.

Job ad says parking available.. but rarely will you get it.. because people milk the overtime and do nothing while soaking it up. Free lunches? Not even worth the money you pay into it. Better off eating the cockroaches swarming the place. Probably taste better. Uniform? If you're lucky, you will see it after 6 months. Advancement within the company? Well goodluck. Management stuck 20 to 30 years.. they know they would have nowhere to go if they left. And no possible way of getting above..  or you will lose your job clean and simple.

In order to get by here.. you have to be a dishonest, ignorant, backstabbing employee. No longer a catering company. More logistics, drama and desperation for staff.

I  enjoyed working for CLS for the past 3 months and meeting new people that worked there long before I was born. CLS was a awesome job: I learned from washing an airline cart in the ware wash, making the meals in the kitchen, free meals, and learning all the flight codes and procedures . Making meals in the kitchen was awesome job to do, it got a little stressful however, I got use to it. The hard part of the job was standing up for so long on one spot, and my back injury I had from a long time ago did not make things easier. The hardest part of the job was ware washing, which I didn't like, The supervisor was very abrupt with me by putting me down as I was learning the ropes. I was very upset about it.  It was also very hot in ware wash with no proper air vents and ventilation system, only plug in fans to get the heat and smoke out. The work culture was so so and I respected  people who are working there and keep to myself busy at my job. I also enjoyed learning new things on the job. I had to step down from the job because of the smoke from the lingering forest fires had affected my lungs badly that I could not breath  It was also far for me to go to via  Skytrain.

Review of Unhealthy Work Environment and Poor Management

I had a deeply disappointing experience with the management and overall work environment at this company. The leadership is severely lacking in both transparency and competence, making it difficult for employees to feel supported or valued. There's a clear disconnect between management and staff, with decisions often being made without proper consultation, leading to confusion and frustration.

The most concerning aspect was the bullying and harassment that I witnessed and unfortunately experienced firsthand. Instead of fostering a culture of respect and teamwork, the management seems to encourage toxic behavior, turning a blind eye to inappropriate conduct. This has created an environment where employees are afraid to speak up for fear of retaliation or further mistreatment.

The overall atmosphere is one of stress and fear, rather than collaboration and mutual respect. It’s a shame because the company had potential, but the toxic culture and ineffective leadership prevent any meaningful progress. I would advise others to think twice before considering a position here.



With an ignorant manager for production that does not like to follow company rules and loves to single people out. In a toxic work environment where it is her way or the highway. Will keep on bullying and pushing you around due to her "power". Tell her a company rule and she will go crazy on you saying "are you telling me how to do my job" when it is a rule for all the company employees. When people of higher "seniority" call you "Juniors" and will have there blood boil when you are called in instead of them. Will talk bad about you in a foreign language to everyone else because you are doing the job the supervisor asked you. Where you will be harrassed for coming in on a weekday when they did not get an overtime call. With management so ignorant about basic economics this company is doomed from losing all the money and not paying staff the right amount or what they deserve. You are better off working for retail as you will make more money in the long run. Management will discriminate you and not let you move up due to personal bias especially the manager of production. You will be singled out called a Junior and talked about for a while behind your back and pressured into a lot of things.

A typical day at work included the preparation of meals and airline equipment for scheduled flights. It is a heavy workload, required to be done in sometimes what seems like such little time, especially having major airlines and sometimes very large flights to cater to. It is a fast paced environment. Accidents happen and thus you must be quick on your feet as well as in your thinking. One very important aspect of the job is teamwork. Everything is done as a team, and through this I learned how to work well in any given situation with a variety of personalities. You are never stuck working with the same group all the time. You can be placed with any group of people for any reason, on any day. We all figure out what each person is good at and apply that when working together, but the fun part was the transferring of skills between teammates. That is, your mates training you in their own competencies.Thus you find that you develop a new skill every other day. I would say the most challenging aspect was meeting short deadlines for very large flights. It can get crazy, but it keeps you on your toes. It was a fun working environment. There is always something to do.

As a Community Living Counselor at CLS, my experience has been deeply enriching and rewarding. The role primarily involves assisting individuals with developmental disabilities, fostering their independence and integration into the community. The job demands a high level of patience, empathy, and adaptability, as each day brings unique challenges and learning opportunities.

Working at CLS, I've developed strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of how to effectively communicate and support those with diverse needs. The company culture is inclusive and supportive, with a strong emphasis on professional development and employee well-being. This supportive environment has been instrumental in helping me navigate the complexities of the role.

However, the job can be emotionally taxing and requires a significant commitment to maintain a work-life balance. Despite these challenges, the personal growth and the positive impact on the lives of the individuals we support make this role extremely fulfilling. The sense of community and teamwork at CLS is unparalleled, making it a gratifying place to work.

Don’t expect they would treat you as a human being, simply follow their instructions and orders without any room for negotiation. Work life balance is a joke here since remote or hybrid work are not permitted, working overtime, during the weekends and statutory holiday are necessary without pay. Even if you work hard and smart, you could expect a few hundreds dollars incremental changes per year while getting promoted is kind of daydreaming, limited upward mobility as well as inflexibility, don’t expect the management would accommodate your needs and adjust the schedule 

From a typical day at work i would be putting stacking boxes and writing down how much i've done. I would have a certain time by that I should start certain assignments given to me. It was my first job so i learned about the workplace environment. The management was very nice and considerate about giving me weekend shifts because i had school on weekdays. My coworkers were also very thoughtful and would guide me on how to do certain jobs when i didnt understand what was asked for. The hardest part of my job was the 3 hour period of work between the breaks. The most enjoyable part was the fresh hot meals that were offered to you on your lunch breaks.

CLS Catering Services Ltd.- Toronto, is one of the most poorly run and managed companies I have ever come across in my 20 year career. The management style of CLS Catering, is to bully and push, divide and conquer and carrot and stick. This style of management is not only promoted but also exercised extensively by the GM. Although, this style of management may have produced short term results in a bygone era; in today's modern workforce, it creates an extremely toxic and polluted working environment, which has completely demotivated the staff. This has led to an astronomically high turnover rate and a damaged corporate culture.

Overall, a great place to work and one of the few places you get a prepared meal for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner for free. The management however, was extremely chaotic and quite disorganized - often you’re blamed for not understanding very convoluted instructions but colleagues were friendly and quite approachable. 
I suppose biggest issue was the lack of a clear onboarding/training program - they basically just threw you into the fire and it was sink or swim.
