What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part was when the work day was over.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No one employed by the company had a good mastery or the English language.  Language was a huge barrier.  Meetings were conducted in Mandarin and I don't speak the language, so it was a waste of time to attend any meetings.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very chaotic and disorganized.  No one had a clue as to what they were doing.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very frustrating because there are no processes in place.  The "process" would change day to day and everyone wanted to be a manager of something.

I appreciated the opportunity to work at COOEC from February 2026 to May 2026 as an Instrument and Control Specialist (EIT). The environment was respectful, professional, and supportive, and I found it to be a valuable place for both learning and contributing. The team culture encouraged collaboration, and I was able to gain meaningful hands-on experience in engineering work.

I am thankful for the knowledge and exposure I received during my time there. COOEC is a company where committed professionals can develop their skills and contribute to important projects.

This is unquestionably the worst company I've encountered in my 40-year career. The management team is severely lacking in business acumen, and their demeanor towards employees is notably bossy and discourteous. A considerable number of individuals have gone unpaid for travel expenses for over six months, and they seem to invent reasons to reduce compensation, resulting in a substantial turnover of employees. Job security is precarious given their exclusive reliance on a single client, leading to frequent hirings and firings."

HR team in COOEC provides a supportive and flexible environment, not to mention opportunities for growth, which made my time there valuable. However, occasional communication challenges and workload fluctuations were areas for improvement. Overall, it's a great place to learn and grow professionally.

I have never worked in such a toxic environment in my life, management has absolutely no respect for the people working on the projects. Located in Calgary, the culture of management is that of a imperialistic nature and expectations of a subservient work force.

no training, no software system, extremely high expectations, micro management, no culture, no holiday, no benefit(all contractors), only speak ESL, everything needs to be approved by HQ, had to use personal computer/cellphone for work, high turnover rate, most people are new in this department, no job security, no work life balance, etc. 

Asked to work on many projects at the same time with impossible deadlines. No support from co-workers and upper management. The only thing PM does is to ask you for deliverables under the order of real bosses - those sent here by Beijing HQ. Stressful and no respect. Too much gossip and no future.

The work is relatively busy with many tasks, which is a challenge for me. I've learned to multitask and communicate promptly with the department manager to adjust work directions. My colleagues are proactive and friendly, and every Friday, we often bring breakfast food to share.

I have a very good experience working at this company. The work environment is friendly and supportive. My colleagues are helpful, and we work well together as a team.

The managers are understanding and always ready to help when needed. I also appreciate that the company gives opportunities to learn new things and improve skills.

Very very low pay. Sketchy details on travel and accommodations for remote site jobs. Very high handed communication style. I would not recommend them for anyone.
