CPR Cell Phone Repair

I had a great experience working at CPR Cellphone Repair on Dufferin Street. I worked there for 2 years and learned a lot from the Owner / Operators who also happened to be area developers for the franchise. They have an extensive background in the corporate sector  which allows them to reach out and attract business that a lot of other repair shops typically struggle with. Their commitment to transparency, quality workmanship and customer satisfaction is what really sets them apart, 

A typical day at work would be answering phone calls and email inquiries, completing walk-in repairs and managing the workload of various corporate clients. 

The management does a very good job at assigning specific roles and clearly outlining your responsibilities. They are also very accommodating when it comes to you work schedule when you have proved yourself to be a committed member of the CPR team. 

I had co-workers that I certainly liked more than others but management always did a good job of keeping a healthy work environment. For me, that's one of the most important aspects of working anywhere. You very often spend more time with your co-workers than you do your family and a healthy work environment makes all the difference. 

The hardest part of the job was dealing with anything related to Samsung Warranty. CPR Cellphone Repair in Canada is authorized to do Samsung Warranty work and unfortunately that usually means customers having problems with their Samsung phones take out their frustration on you. Management did a great job of personally dealing with frustrated customers and made an active effort to pass on their interpersonal skills to the customer service representatives as well as the technicians. |

The most enjoyable part of the job was hands down being able to speak candidly with the customers. The approach at CPR Dufferin was to give the customer an honest, transparent answer on what the best solution for them was even if that meant turning away business. The Owner Operators always did a good job of reinforcing that philosophy to their employees. The cell phone repair industry, much like the automotive repair industry is filled with a lot of mom and pop shops (and even well established repair shops) with questionable business practices. CPR does a great job of separating themselves from the rest as an honest, ethical, and convenient repair service.

You are expected to know and learn every new thing that comes and in my case, even devices from 10 years ago. I was expected to be customer services, sales, technician and perform administrative duties. There are no benefits in place for employees, the wages were not competitive and I was constantly understaffed. Some days I found myself working alone having to handle customer device sign in, answer the phones, and handle repairs. Now, this may not be the case for every store, but it was definitely something I had to deal with at mine.

how to manage time, how to fix many devices/problem solve difficult questions and situations, how to manage employees and run a functional store.
management was good, but they have their weaknesses.
my co-workers all have different strengths that they possess. 
the hardest part which was also the most tedious was putting parts away that were not yet in the point of sales
the most enjoyable was being able to to the excitement on a customers face when they got a working device back.

It was good to work there.  However, bring an IT certified technician with 8 certifications, it was a little boring.
You get to learn the myths about water damage to electronics.  New cell phones, tablets, and computers come in all the time.

Store owner provided me with the opportunity to develop office support skills, including Quickbooks and Microsoft Office.  As it was part time I was able to continue with community involvement (school involvement).

It was fun to learn to troubleshoot new devices on a regular basis. Good to know about upcoming new technologies and new cellphones. The hardest part was to work on a complicated new device.

It was not a bad place to work.  However, because of the business being so new, not many people in Leduc and area know about it.  Job stability is not there.

A very friendly place to work.  Fast, friendly service.  Learned a lot about repairing phones.  Co-workers were helpful and patient with training.
