What is the best part of working at the company?
The other workers were great and the pay was fair

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
This company is managed horribly. They never had any parts place is very dirty and bad for your health. They don't care about safety or the environment. Oh, they care about is being able to do whatever they wanna do no matter what the consequences are for the individual workers or the environment, I wasn't around for work in the 60s before we had a bunch of laws, but my guess would be this is what it would've been like.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very dirty and these guys wanted workers to bring contaminated coveralls  home to wash them exposing your family to silica and coal dust and it took over 6 months after they were aware that there were laws in place to change this even though they were aware of how bad this stuff is for your health never mind the health of your family 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Prepare for your day get everything ready and find out the planner didn't even check if we had the proper tools and parts to preform job safely or even be able to do the job

This company is not professionally run.  The managers and supervisors are at best incompetent and would more aptly be described as corrupt and self dealing.  It's the old boys club at it's worst.  The fabulous five have got to go, but the owners do not seem to care how many staff they go through or why equipment keeps going missing.

Management favours certain people including their significant other. 
Poor team environment and always pointing blame to others
Most management shouldn’t be in the position they are in. Always same people running the show very poorly and have no actual experience to run things properly including the process plant. 
Management salary is low for the stress and responsibility you have. Upper management does not listen to experienced employees.

Horrible to work for and only reason they have 2.7 stars is because HR putting positive reviews to bring up scores 
Management also ripping off the company and nothing ever said. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Horrible place to work and agreed on my many. Very poor management that go out of there way to sweep things under the rug to cover their behinds, and to burn their employees. There is also a disgustingly poor moral there to try and work in. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The employers were definitely the most stressful, I did not enjoy going to work everyday

Poor moral. Poor communication. Poor assistance when needed. No respect for any employees 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Awful and miserable, there was nothing to enjoy during a day of work at cst

At CST (Computer Science Technology) is a Chinese owned mine (formerly Grande Cash Coal) located at Grande Cache AB.  99.9% of all repairs are done outside.  Nothing works on the service trucks and the equipment in ruff shape with no intent to repair or replace the equipment with new.  Parts are all over the place.  Inventory is never done.  Tooling is minimal.  The maintenance Manager is an expert vacuum cleaner operator with upper management and will throw you under the bus if he doesn’t like anything at all about you.
On the other hand the people are good to work with.

The people and management made my life very comfortable in my early days at CST . Shop foreman and maintenance super were beyond friendly and did whatever they could to get me what i needed. Going back always worries me with how many times the mine has closed. But i would go back in a heart beat for the friendly environment in that shop. People were great, managers friendly and personable. Money and overtime were good.

Sorry prospective applicants, but this is not the place to be.   Management by the same people who have run the facility into the ground several times now.  Cannot trust the people you work for (generally the coworkers are good).   I know I passed my drug test straight up but I have no idea how some of the foremen and supervisors did.

Upper management has little experience.  This is a company owned by foreign investors looking to make a quick buck and it certainly shows.

Staff leaving every week it seems.

The company has been in operation for 1 1/2 years and it's nice to see how many people have come back to work here (preciously Grande Cache Coal)! Surface mine and Plant are in operation, Underground has not started yet....hopefully it starts soon!  
Wages are good. Get vacation and benefits right after starting...not too many places to work offer that. 
Work schedules are great for work/life balance. 
The community of Grande Cache is busier than ever, nice to see considering I'm a local.

CST Coal, has absolutely no safety culture. Coming from a work place who had a strong positive safety culture, This place was a culture shock for me. Incidents are swept under the rug and aren't taken seriously, foremen and management have terrible communication with employees. The whole company is so disorganized. The parts for equipment are all aftermarket and break down more easily as well as they never have parts available. Don't waste your time.
