Worked for this company for 2 1/2 months, then get dismissed for no actual reason and without warning after moving across Canada for the job. They are all friends who grew up with eachother and if you arent part of the clique or kiss up to the foreman, he will make up some b.s to the person hiring you to get rid of you. Foreman only comes up to check on employees last 20 minutes of the day about... 2 days a week so he doesn't even know who is doing what. I worked with quality and speed but was let go because.. well, i have no clue why i got let go, probably because i didnt kiss up to the foreman or hangout with their friend group outside of work.

Depending where you are assigned you will either do the same job for 6 months or a new task everyday or two. Most journeymen and foremen are willing to teach and you can learn a lot if on a good crew. Management only comes around to tell you what your doing wrong and to work faster even if they haven't explained how to actually achieve that. Each site has a different culture, some positive some toxic. Hardest part is getting material you need especially if its good quality and prepare to have to meet near impossible deadlines. Pay was above average but OT is near impossible to get unless you are a golden boy.

Hires a lot of green apprentices, very poor management, repetitive work and nothing new to learn. They expect you to get slab 100% even when injured from car accident. Also expect you to pull wire for all the units, stair lighting and install plugs for other trades all within the week. They don't care how hard you work and they drain you completely. Overall bad experience with highrise and would not recommend as most journeyman only know slabs. Avoid mitchell and trevor as they are one of the laziest journeyman/foreman ive met in my life

I joined cairns and it seems like every other concrete high rise running shoe electric. I’m used to that because I did my whole Apprenticeship At NRG electric.
I do a lot of slab and I can lose lots of weight because I have to stand in the sun for hours at end. If you are looking for back breaking work and paid less than industry standards, come join me.

If you are good you will know. Very active management not afraid to give you anything you need if it makes sense. If you make puppies you will not last long. Hustle and a good attitude and you will love working here. If you ever played in team sports you will find it a team environment that’s familiar.

i haved worked with few other companies that does highrises in BC. cairn’s by far is best one there is. job secure as long as you pull your weight. if you don’t know what you doing, seniors are always ready to explain/help. however management needs some work to connect with field workers. 

No description available. No recent work history with Cairns electric. At the time of employment I was a young apprentice and I do remember the proper and focused foreman who ensured the safety and positive experience of apprentices and fellow electricians.

workers are fun to be with. their are a lot of apprentices compared to journeyman. hard work at first, slab work is miserable and pay is low. room for improvement, if they like you you'll advance into better positions

Enjoyed working at Cairns. The employees were well trained and great support. Would have stayed but was offer a job closer to home. Company was going very quickly and room for advancement.
