Great Organisation with lots of good ideas. Unfortunately, lack of professional management and unclear business goals threaten to sink this company. The work environment is UNHEALTHY and there are always plenty of reasons not to take a decision, reasons to wait for more information, more options, more opinions, (always managers opinion). Managers are the last to arrive in the mid-morning and the first to leave in the afternoon...Of course, with such incompetency in the middle management team they are   bias against honesty. If you are looking for a place to grow professionally where your leaders are likeable, understand your needs, can authentically motivate people and know how to energize a workplace culture to generate the best results for the organization, keep looking for it because THIS IS NOT THE PLACE.

The Manager for Airdrie/Brooks/High River/Okotoks was very hard to deal with. Management and staff is very clicky. The manager micro-manages beyond anything I have seen before. Even after approval for time off the manager made you feel guilty and reminded constantly He did you a favour. The is no organizational chart and very confusing as to who is your direct supervisor as the role is sort of split up between on site sort of manager and off-site manager out of Calgary with no clear direction who is responsible for what - and each manager wanted something different and was told to ignore the other one and HR did not help. 
Benefits are ok and pay is not great as they mostly offer part-time work at these locations. 


What is the best part of working at the company?
Working with my manager. She had open door policy and super helpful when I had any question or concerns. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It was difficult to hear about refugees stories and hardship. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I was working in a very small group, which was enjoyable. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It depend, sometimes very organized and predictable and sometimes stressful and unpredictable. This was the nature of the work.

I would like to have had more job security than I had while teaching there. I did two contracts at CCIS, but there was a considerable time delay between them. Further, they did not submit Employment Insurance deductions, as they were obligated to do. This resulted in an extra long waiting period for myself while the EI people collected these monies that CCIS should have deducted (by law) and remitted to the government after I was given a lay off.

An excellent place to work. This was my first job since I moved to Canada. It taught me how to be patient, persevere and have empathy and compassion. I enjoyed most helping people who were in vulnerable situations. I looked forward to going to work everyday as it was extremely rewarding when I helped clients with complex needs. I made sure that before they left my office, they were relaxed and relieved and had a smile on their face.

The staff members are family oriented. They are diligent, professional and put their heart in their work. Supportive to staff and clients. The team is willing to support you to help you become your best and work most efficiently. It is also a fun and collaborative work environment that also supports opportunities for leadership.

On my point of view it was the best place to start with and gain some Canadian experience of work and know how the system works. And it was always fun helping new immigrants to Canada our help them in the kitchen with food and help them with language translation as well . it was a good place to begin with. 

Doing volunteering at CCIS is amazing because you gain a lot of experience and confidence. I feel grateful for this opportunity, is amazing to give back, build relationship and add value to wonderful non-profit organization. I really feel value. Here , there is a strong commitment of belonging and contribution to the community and I love that.

I worked in different departments (CDIS dept ,HR dept and front desk also)and learned so many things.I found most enjoyable part of the job by talking to different clients and solving their queries.I like to take responsibility also so in HR department,we need to be more careful as they do handle with confidential stuff.

Dealing with immigrants and assisting in finding employment as well as integration into Canadian culture.
