Delivered for Mother’s Day on an on-call basis. The company advertises pay of up to $32/hour, but in practice this appeared to apply only to “active delivery time” tracked through their internal app rather than the total time spent working. This meant they would push to pay only for time actively tracked in the app, while time spent driving between locations, waiting for tasks to be updated, loading flowers into your car, communicating with dispatch, and waiting for assignments was unpaid.

This pay structure can effectively reduce your earnings to below minimum wage once unpaid time is accounted for. I had multiple deliveries with incorrect or incomplete addresses, including missing unit numbers, which required contacting support to resolve. In several cases, support would delete and recreate the trip in the app, removing the previously tracked delivery time and further reducing payable hours. I also had multiple customers ask whether the tips added through the app went directly to drivers, which they did not.

Had this pay structure been made clearer upfront, I likely would not have accepted the work. A typical day involved long periods of uncertainty and downtime between deliveries. I have done deliveries for other agencies that pay more respectfully.

 I learned more about route management and working independently under time pressure. The hardest part was the unpaid waiting/driving time and lack of clarity around actual earnings. The most enjoyable part was completing deliveries and interacting with appreciative customers.

Poor management decisions led to full layoffs instead of a partial or phased approach—showing a lack of loyalty
No benefits or equipment provided—employees had to use personal devices and cover their own expenses
Low compensation despite frequent overtime and personal cost
Unclear work-life boundaries; pressure to work extra hours
Uneven workload distribution—few carried the load while others coasted on seniority
Leadership lacked technical knowledge and transparency
Rehiring skilled developers after layoffs showed poor planning and instability
Senior managers often stole credit for work done by junior staff and claimed the recognition

Advice to Management:

Reduce unnecessary management layers
Focus on expanding product offerings and true business growth
Care more about employee well-being rather than superficial celebrations
Create a proper long-term strategy for marketing and company stability

We often do check-ins, play games, bbqs etc. which has helped to create a fun environment, as well as allows you to get to know your coworkers beyond the job. 

I really enjoy the collaborative aspect of the job, as I feel like I'm constantly learning from my coworkers. At Callia you're able to present your own ideas and are often encouraged to offer different perspectives and opinions.

My typical day at work is filled with sharing laughs with my coworkers in between meetings. I've learned so much at Callia that will help me be a better, more knowledgeable team member. Management is great, welcoming, helpful, and overall very supportive. The most enjoyable part of my job is the sheer amount of tasks I am learning to do. No two days are the same and that is a big reason why I believe Callia allows me to thrive and grow as an individual and an employee.   

The freedom to drive around my city, delivering flowers to happy recipients is so fun and rewarding. It's casual work though and shifts can be tough to get, so I wouldn't rely on it for a main source of income.
My only gripe has been that shifts get snatched up SO quickly! Unless I'm already on my phone and looking at the app when one pops up, I miss out. When I can get shifts though, it's great for some extra income! 

I enjoyed working as a delivery driver. I’m introverted and liked being by myself while working. Their app is easy to follow, and I would have kept this as a side gig. I left because after spending money on gas and driving, I ended up with less than minimum wage. I wish they could do something to compensate the staff better - I would always keep that gig! Professional company, clear direction, and they’re very good at communicating, and very efficient. 

Team orientated culture that supports learning and growth in a fast-paced work environment. You'll likely wear multiple hats at some point, allowing you to get outside your comfort zone and grow!

With a healthy balance for life outside of work, you'll have the flexibility to address needs in your personal life if events arise without having to worry about job security - strong understanding management team.

This company has developed me personally and professionally -- they're equally committed to my growth as I am to Callia's growth. I've received the opportunity to develop into roles that I wouldn't have had the chance to in a typical corporate structure. Learning here is fun and rewarding!
