My time at Cambridge ProFab did not meet my initial expectations. Despite joining the team with high enthusiasm and readiness to contribute, I encountered several challenges that hindered my ability to perform optimally.

Management and Leadership:The leadership at Cambridge ProFab was concerning, characterized by a lack of clear direction and often contradictory communication from upper management. There was a notable discrepancy in project assignments and recognition, where it seemed preference was given to certain individuals regardless of their qualifications or the quality of their work. This not only undermined team morale but also affected the efficiency of our projects.

Work Environment:The work environment at Cambridge ProFab could greatly benefit from enhanced support and collaboration among team members. While the presence of a few exceptional colleagues provided a learning opportunity and some semblance of teamwork, the overarching atmosphere was one of individualism, which detracted from the company’s potential to foster a cohesive and supportive team.

Compensation:An area that notably impacted my experience was compensation. The initial pay was lower than expected, with raises being infrequent and minimal. Efforts to negotiate fair and equal pay felt like an uphill battle, contributing to a sense of undervaluation. This aspect of the job not only affected financial stability but also morale, as it seemed reflective of the company’s overall approach to employee appreciation and recognition.

Work-Life Balance:The company’s promises of work-life balance and family-oriented values fell short of reality. Despite assurances of flexibility and understanding, the actual expectations did not align with these values, affecting personal time and well-being.

Professional Growth and Development:Opportunities for professional advancement appeared to be unevenly distributed, often influenced by favoritism rather than merit. The lack of constructive feedback further compounded the difficulty in career progression, leaving employees in a limbo of unfulfilled promises for development and growth within their roles.

Conclusion:I had entered Cambridge ProFab with optimism, hoping for a fulfilling and enriching experience. Unfortunately, the reality was marked by challenges in leadership, team dynamics, and personal growth opportunities. While Cambridge ProFab has the potential to be an excellent workplace, significant improvements are necessary to realize this potential fully. It is my hope that addressing these areas can transform the company into a more inclusive, supportive, and dynamic environment for all employees.


Great place to start at first mangement was amazing really nice poeple amazing guys to work with, I was hired on as a weld shop associate/welder never got to do welding i did welding about 3 times if that in my time there being a female starting out in the trade i always constantly felt overlooked and had to fight so hard just to be put on welding while they would give guys there that had less expirence then me welding jobs. Made so many false promises guys who have been welding for 20 plus years were put on insulation who were incrediable welders. If your looking for a carrer in welding dont go here great to gain expirence but they wont train you they wont give you welding they need general labours who happen to know how to weld thats it its very clear they have their welders and dont need anymore you wont progress here you will be insulating all your time rarley welding. 

I would reccomend CPF to someone just starting out in the field as a welder. It's an incredible place to learn. From overhead cranes, sky jacks, opportunities to get your CWB tickets, and welding itself. The culture between employees, I would say, is excellent. I was personally taken under many wings by many of the employees there who were open and willing to share their knowledge. One supervisor comes across harsh, and certainly can be, but if you keep your head down you won't have a problem. CPF is not a place to make your career, employees are underpaid. I was making 17.50 ad a CWB certified welder. When employees try to approach management about raises it is usually received with being felt like they're giving you the run around. So overall it's a great place to work if you don't mind being underpaid.

I worked 40 hours a week, day shift Monday to Friday, plus overtime. 
Management was extremely helpful. The work environment was laid back, productive and my co-workers were easy going and supportive of one another. The hands on experience I gained has been helpful in my professional growth such as operating a crane, fixing and repairing multiple types of welding. I learned how to weld in many different types of positions to be able to complete the job with precise accuracy. The hardest part of my job is when production slowed down as I enjoy the fast paced environment, however I had no difficulty seeking out alternative tasks to keep busy.

the company’s loyalty to longer term people who may not deserve it  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is a nice place .  the people are proud of their individual accomplishments .  There can be a pathway to success at the company .  The management truly want to do good

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
nothing typical .  lots of  decisions on the fly .   Great cooperation between the office and the floor .  design on the fly .

What is the best part of working at the company?
Good place if you have never welded before 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with Management and worrying about getting paid when you should get payed

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is toxic and they will throw you away when you serve your purpose. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Could be welding one day and the next week you could be grinding bevels or fixing other people's welds.

This place has a very hi quality standard witch makes it a good place to learn. Unfortunately this place is not the place to look for long term employment especially if you are supporting a family. Start wages at other companies are higher than what their senior welder fitters make after ten years of being there. The wages are so low that you are forced to work over time and be away from your family more than anyone should have to be just to be able to support that family.

I was hired as a GTAW pipe welder. But did very little welding at all. And the welding I did was FCAW. And then what they don't tell you. Is that you are going to be doing general labor stuff such insulting, chaulking, and millwright work. At general labour wages. The plant is extremely messy and need a good cleaning. Parts store can't order the proper tools. There where no 1/8 drill bits in the whole plant. Because people kept breaking them. And we had to use next size up 3/16 bits. The whole company is a big joke. My advice is to stay away at all costs.

I was hired on and had rather low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised by the value that was placed on my regarding my work ethic. My years of factory and machine operator experience have made me an important cog in the Pro fab wheel. Not a day goes by that I feel like I'm helping to solve or input ideas that positively affects day to day operations. The management and floor workers are extremely helpful if and when issues become present. 

Dirty and unsafe conditions. Kind of a low-life mentality with workers unwilling to help you if you don't fit in (you don't have tattoos, smoke or constantly spit). Brantford plant manager is like a bulldog glaring at people and pushing work out the door before it is completed properly. When the problems are discovered - it was the employees fault.

Good welders are totally unnoticed.

Pay is the worst in the industry.
