A typical day at work was boring and repetitive, stressful and very dark. The entire place was filthy and no amount of cleaning your work area could ever produce a change. The lighting was low and it was a very noisy environment.

However I did learn a lot about machines and how to run them, how to do minor repairs and tool/insert changes and how to maximize production in order to meet tight deadlines.

Management was uncaring and had very poor line of communication with operators. They often shouted at each other and fought with each other. Upper management shouted at and threatened middle management and middle management did the same to the regular operators, creating havoc in the workplace nearly every day. Management often cursed and swore loudly, using dirty words about women. The job was very unsecured from day 1. Before they finally let me go, I watched 67 hardworking operators be fired and let go from my line alone. This doesn't include the other 7 or 8 lines in the plant, who also fired massive crowds of employees each and every month. Camcor is somewhat of a revolving door when it comes to employees.

My co-workers were the highlight of the job. Without co-workers and teamwork it would have been impossible to meet our shipping deadlines, but we came together each and every day to reach our daily quotas. Still, because of the stressful environment caused by management, it often caused operators to have violent outburst of rage toward management and one other.

The hardest part of this job was arriving at work, knowing you are going to be there for 8 hours or more.

There were no enjoyable aspects of this job whatsoever and I am happy to no longer be working there.

A typical day at Camcor Manufacturing would be me waking up and getting ready for work. I would show up to work a half an hour early, go to my locker, hang up my coat, put on my safety shoes, tie up my hair, put my safety glasses on, and my ear plugs. I go on the line and grab the paper work necessary for my daily gauge checks. I walk around the machines to make sure all of the safety locks, guards and everything is secure to run. I start getting my papers ready so it is faster for me to check my parts every hour. After, I would go get my gloves needed to work with and wait for the daily meeting at the beginning of the day. After the meeting, I would go over to the machines and check the very first part on each machine to give to QA. If anything were to fault out I would go over to the machines and reset the fault. Every hour I would check parts and I always made sure that it was clean around my area. Before the end of the day I would go over to the computer to make sure that I have hit my hourly targets. Most of the time I do unless the machines were down.

They don't respect or value their own employees at all. Everything is about push push push for making profits. No work/life balance as it is 8 hour (3 shift rotational), every 2 weeks, it changes. And also 12 hour continental rotational shifts (12 hour nightshift, 12 hour dayshift). This work schedule is not good for personal health, mental, physical body and sleep. It's hard to raise a family to a new born child or spend time with your family with this work schedule. You are mostly living and breathing at work 75% of the time. They expect high quality work, but the hour wage is not as highly paid like Toyota. Which can be $25/ hour to over $30.00/ hour. $14/hour with a yearly 25 cent raises won't cut it to have a successful sustainable business. The cap out hour wage is $17 something for machine operators. No wonder Employee turnovers are high yearly.

I'm, reading the other review on this page that said they only got a 25 cent raise after a year, well, I only got 10 cents after my first year as of 2018 and that really upsets me. I can understand how they don't care about their workers because so many people are unhappy there. You can do a good job, work hard, keep everything clean, make quality production and no one will notice. But if you make one mistake like crash a robot by accident you get written up and they will bring it up on your yearly review. Not a good place to work and no other factories in Guelph cares if you've worked at a Linamar plant because everyone in Guelph has worked there.

One day, I caught one of the set-ups hiding a bad part behind the machines. He saw that I saw him do it and told me to not tell anybody. I agreed and never told anyone because he was I thought he was my friend. I found out a month later that he blamed me for putting that part there and ever since the supervisor gave me a bad reputation. They gave me more work and were very hard on me. Then the pandemic happened, and they told me to not come back. This is the type of people that work here. I put in 4 years into this company and they treat me like dirt.

At Camcor I learned a lot about the manufacturing process and the production line. A typical day at work started with running the machines and completing the hourly quality testing. Then continued working by ensuring the machines ran smoothly, correcting invalid parts, or checking parts at the end of the line. There were generally two breaks given; a short break in the morning and a longer break in the afternoon for lunch. The most enjoyable part of the job included interacting with the variety of people who worked there.

The more you know, the more you'll be forced to work, but if you don't know, it's okay and the salary is equivalent

The only thing they care about is the parts your just a number and the only way to advance is to know someone it’s not what you know it’s who you know jobs are given to friends before qualified people and that’s all over linamar not just Camcor there is no job security if they don’t like you or a supervisor has a problem with you for whatever reason they find a way to get rid of you it’s all about the numbers nothing else

Currently working 12 hour shifts straight day shifts. 7AM-7PM 
hardest thing about my current job is trying to complete all the necessary work that needs to be done while trying to keep machines running and to hit our daily goal. 
the most enjoyable thing about my current work is the people i work with, they make the day go by fast and enjoyable if something isn't going right.
