Camp Couchiching

Typically the job starts with ensuring that all the staff and children receive their daily meals. What you do depended on whether you are scheduled as a cook or as prep. If you are cooking, what you would do would be to set up the coffee station, turn on the grill, and ensure the dish pit machine was on, pull all ingredients out of the freezer and begin cooking, and making sure that the prep staff would be getting their work complete and using time management to ensure that meals would be done on time for serving. Most of the shifts were evenly distributed between morning and dinner shifts which the hours were amazing 6-630am start and finishing at 2-230pm for the morning. Dinner shift 11 am- 7pm. The hardest part of the job would be the heat of the kitchen and how fast pace it is, also if your not use to being on your feet all day that can really affect your bodies endurance. The best part of the job is by far the children and staff, how much they appreciate everything you do for them.

Camp Couchiching prides itself on inclusiveness and a fun and safe environment for children. First attending Camp Couchiching as a camper, then leadership member, and finally as a staff member, Camp has sculpted me into the person I am today and has taught me valuable life lessons, and exposed me to opportunities I would never have been exposed to.

The environment is safe and clean, my co-workers are supportive and positive, my managers are encouraging and helpful.

The hardest part of the job is working for so much time with getting little time off, but it is worth it. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is working alongside my friends, watching kids grow and change into better people, and enjoying all of the activities offered.

Working at Camp Couchiching was a great experience! Typical day includes breakfast, 2 activities (which you lead, children choose their schedule on the first day), lunch, rest hour, 2 more activities, free play, dinner, programed activity (with cabin, entire camp or other grouping) campfire them bed. Sometimes activites with older children or later staff activities. The staff at camp Couchiching are very friendly and many have grown up as campers. The hardest part is the long hours and being away from home for 12 days at a time, and the pay is not the best. But you get to be outside all day making memories with great children

In a hectic, 24/7 pace for 6 months of the year, type of job, you couldn't find a better location or group of people. I can really feel that they listen to you, consider your safety and ensure that there is lots of fun in the midst of the busy pace.
I learned to manage priorities, not get caught up in the small stuff and when working hard it feels like you're hardly working (at times- other times it feels tiring). Lots of steps in each day so you keep really fit as well! The good friends make it fun.

Typical day included lots of new exciting challenges.

Hardest part was adapting to camp life for the first time
Most enjoyable was working in a group of similar minded people and running events for the campers

The work environment at Camp Couchiching is great. There is a heavy emphasis on self motivation and accountability. A team mentality is the staple in this organization. Anyone would be lucky to work with them in either community engagement or youth programming.

I loved working at Camp Couchiching! Camp has allowed me to embrace the wonders of the outdoors, acquire new skills, and most importantly, boost my confidence which has helped me build the unbreakable friendships I still have today.

Overall the work is tiring but enjoyable due to fun and amazing experiences you can have. Poor management and pay are a large factor in why many people have quit.

Working at Camp Couchiching has been one of the best summer's of my life. The staff team as a whole really works together to create the "camp bubble" and allow every camper to have a true camp experience.

I really liked this job. Everyone knew what there task was and got it done in a fun and productive manner and I never has any issues with management and they give really good hours.
