Camp Qwanoes

The work at Camp Qwanoes is well organized and the work enviroment is fantastic. Everybody is supportive and makes sure that your having fun. There are multiple jobs you can be doing and it differs every week. The Kitchen prepares the food for 600 + people, The Dish team works in different shifts one right after breakfast which goes until after lunch, and the other starts after lunch and continue working until 10 00 PM. The Cleaning Team starts at 7 00 in the morning cleaning all bathrooms, showers, sinks, and toilets. The Cleaning Team continues this throughout the entire day once or twice after every meal. After lunch the Cleaning Team does a Field Sweep cleaning up all garbage around the entire Camp. The Hardest part of the job is the long day of work, but it's also the most enjoyable part of the job because you work with people that are very supportive and helpful.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I think it’s the transition from each activity when you are taking care of kids whom don’t listen to you. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s super welcoming and everyone is kind to you. The culture is good. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
When I worked there I was a camp counselor so it was pretty busy. You wake up in your cabin with your campers then get them ready for breakfast. For meals you sit and eat with your campers. Then you follow the schedule. Right after lunch I go off for my activity support or my break. Then after the first two blocks is tuck time. After tuck time there is one more activity block where you’re either doing activity support or on your break. After that it’s dinner and then you follow the schedule again until it’s bedtime.

Most fun job. I believe it is technically volunteer work, with support money being raised to help people who are there for the whole summer. Either way, you won't make much, but it's not really a job to take if you're in it for the money anyways. Depends on your role but hours are long but very rewarding. Fast-paced, tons of fun, lots of options. 

I’ve worked here many summer and wouldn’t trade the memories and experience I’ve made for anything! I’ve made so many friends and gained lots of new skills. Keep in mind, this is more than a job… it’s a ministry and way of life. You need to make sure you know that difference before your work there. It’s a life giving and fruitful ministry if you have your heart in the right place to serve. 10/10 recommend!

Camp Qwanoes is a great place to work and the people that you work with/for are amazing. A typical day at Camp Qwanoes is literally filled with loving kids to life. I am learning how to care for children . My co-workers are unbelievable. The hardest part of the job is being so far from home. The most enjoyable part is that everyone becomes part of your family.

I had a great time in the summer, getting to know people from all over the world. The director is kind and compassionate. There are some things that can be improved in HR (many of the year-long staff left due to burn-out).

There are a multitude of different roles for every type of person. Christian community dedicated to sharing the Gospel and loving those around them. The leadership is amazing with staff from all around the world.

I heard it once described as the Garden of Eden. A small place, a shelter, where life is like it was meant to be. Of course no place is perfect, but the atmosphere of Qwanoes is something that will uplift you during the time you work there and stay with you the rest of your life.

A very positive, uplifting environment and a wonderful location. Several hundred campers arrive weekly with over a hundred staff members. Each week is packed with an endless variety of activities to choose from for campers.

Best job I've ever had. I learned a lot of new skills and I was able to grow as a person. I met a lot of people and this job was very fulfilling. I wouldn't trade this job experience for any other.
