What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of the work is helping low language proficiency clients solve their problems. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The worst parts are manyfold. Firstly, there is no guaranteed income.  After being logged in for 8 straight hours, the number of calls you receive is uncertain. Sometimes, you get a 10 minutes call throughout the entire day. Secondly, at 27 dollars an hour, the work is no assurance of making money. Thirdly, some call dispatchers (i.e., facilitators) are in a rush to get the call going, without any regards to interpreters' need to be  ready themselves to take the call. Fourthly, the management has a minimum consideration to the interpreters, who get suspended at any glitch of the call they handled. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work is done remotely.  The company has no work environment or culture, except that of anonymity. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Waiting to handle calls remotely all day long. At the end of the day, the returns are quite meager, which does not encourage assiduity.

They seem to have changed the policy to pay per hour for interpreter, at least that's what I am getting. I am given shifts according to the availability I provided, and each shift has strict break times I must follow. In the training session they clearly stated you must clock in and out for breaks/shifts at the exact time down to the minute as provided, not a minute sooner or later. Probably because they have to pay per hour now so they want to save money. Oh and pay rate is minimum wage.

I actually like working as an interpreter a lot, and the work feels meaningful and rewarding. But the pay is not enough to live on as full time job. This can only be a good side job unless they increase the pay. But at least I think this job is better than, say, fast food jobs that are very physically and mentally tiring (and in danger of injury/burns) and only pay minimum wage as well.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I think good work experience to get an experience to be interpreter and after applying for a real government interpretation job with a better salary.
The bad things it's the inconsistent phone call you can wait more than one hour. Also, you must wait for more than month the reality is cost living very expensive, and they must rise the salary and paid at the end of each month.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You never which call you have I put the preference of my calling for example social services or government, but I have more commercial. Some client can be very annoying.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good staff but sometimes you don t feel supported enough .

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Just log in and wait and log out better to have two other jobs to get more income .

The values of direct interactions with humans and their various points of views based on their expertise help to come up with methods for solving problems. 
Managers reviewed my completed works and reports in the weekly basis, they implemented my recommendations, they directed changes which helped improve the automation of the scheduling. My co-workers made up the great team to work with, when  I went on leave they took over my duties for the given time of my leave. The hardest parts of this job were the cause to be more creative. Numbers of requests, and languages had led to create an automated tool to write the schedule. The most enjoyable part of this creativity is an easy working routine with better accuracy. and short time periods.

As a customer demand-oriented company, CanTalk keeps you on your toes and by so doing, they out best in you as an employee. Employee-employer relations are great as they are ready to give you a listening ear and ready to offer suggestions.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You need constant concentration at work to succeed in your job at CanTalk.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company exhibits a cordial and welcoming working environment for all, and you don't have to stress yourself during difficult weather conditions.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It is a very busy working environment, though you have the appropriate breaks within to keep you going as an employee.

This job is definitely a good job for multilingual speakers  since it doesn't require any prior experience. The training doesn't really help so all interpreters have to get ready before taking the first call. The payment isn't bad despite the work hours are not stable.

I speak 3 languages but I normally get 3-4 calls even though I had been on for 10 consecutive hours. Obviously, we get more calls in business hours in Winnipeg. It a good options to earn extra money for those people who work on shift but do not expect you can earn much if you have a consistent job 9-5.

Can Talk can also be a bridge for you to step into the interpretation industry. It helps newcomers accumulate work experience.

Minimal support from or even communication with management, a reality epitomized over the past week when it has been impossible to log in for the usual interpretation calls or to contact a manager to find out what is going on.  The only information given, in the one call I got after three days of dead silence, has been vague reference to “operational difficulties “. A company that is all about communication doesn’t last long if neither employees nor clients can communicate with it.  It would appear that cantalk is going out of business… or will very soon, given this bizarre situation.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The flexibility on schedule, their professionalism on dealing and connecting with clients and staff, and their professionalism on recording the time work and the responsibility on paying on time.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There are moments that Service providers don’t give time for introductions, and their accents over the phone is a little confusing. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I work from home, but when I speak to the staff they are very polite and nice with me and clients.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I try to connect any time I have available, any hour of the day.

Incompetent management will only use different excuses to make things difficult for you.
A company that often makes things out of nothing and is completely unsympathetic.
Earning minimum wage but required to translate a wide range of languages
Including legal, medical, government funding, insurance ALSO will answer if someone dies.
Listening to the other person crying loud on the phone
Please prepare a strong mental state to cope.
This place is no different from an elementary school/reeducation through labor center
You can’t chat with your colleagues at work
You are not allowed to wear a hat to work
Can't log in to your own email

As a contracted employee who can log in to work at anytime and hope for calls to be interpreted there isn't much what to expected from the company in terms of culture, management, benefits, etc, since I do not work full-time nor in loco. Thus, I can't judge that and the pros and cons below are based on a remote, casual, independent contractor's perspective.
