It was a inbound call center for CRA.   I had to answer calls from clients all over Canada.  Some filing seasons I was not on the phones to clients but helping other agents and researching information, which I enjoyed doing.  Each filing season we had to write exams to complete for our positions, this contributed to the overall poor atmosphere in the building.  Salary question is only an estimate, was controlled but amount of time working that particular year and the type of position I worked.

I was able to gain experience in customer service and public relations
I was able to deal with people of all walk of life
I provided excellent customer service both at the counter  and over the phone. I  help assisted other staff with work, I provided also administrative support including reception.. I explain programs and services to clients and provided up to date information to the general public in both English and French.  The work is very enjoyable and very productive we work as a team to meet deadlines

Most find the scope of our job (talking to and dealing with taxpayers) difficult but I find that the best part of the job. I like conversing with different people and helping them. I deal with all ages, genders, races and people with various backgrounds and I learn from each and every call and I like helping those clients, from updating accounts or answering simple and complex questions on income tax and benefits issues.

It was a lot of work but it was enjoyable because you were working with other students and there was a social element to it . Having to decide to complete my schooling and therefore not accept being hired fulltime was a tough decision one of the hardest I have ever had to make.

A place to be interactive with colleagues while providing a necessary service while being engaged with others both inside and outside the office. Learnt how to be patient and respond well to difficult people.

Even though in a primarily English speaking city, emphasis was placed on French speaking abilities. No English-only officers were kept on as full-time.

Excellent place to work. Great pay, great benefits, great work life work balance, great hours. Very busy, always lots to do, day goes by quickly but you don't stress every day.

The CRA offers training and tax software for the volunteers as well as a network of professionals to guide community organizations as they deliver the program.
