Over all it could be worse. They pay good. The benefits are not that great and kind of expensive honestly.  Our vans were not the the best. If they needed repair they dragged their feet on approving any thing for them.  Right down to wiper blades (I waited a week for wiper blades). They could loosen up on that.  No special tools. No factory training.  They run very lean.  Small shop everyone is easy to work with.  Head office doesn’t have much to do with the local techs unless you screw up something.  The ownerships watch the cameras like hawks.  Time off for appointments need to be made well in advance.  They also require you to book your holidays the December before the new year which is a real pain.  They could definitely loosen up when it comes to time off requests especially in the smaller branches with 2 or 3 employees.  They take money off your cheque for a social fund but never spend it back at the branch.  They use it for the coffee.   

They have no trust in their employees. To be fair they haven’t had the best of luck in the past but for the few that are good and loyal to them they could give some more leash.  I was fortunate to be able to speak with management and work with them to get some labour rates moved around to try to gain some more business.  I wouldn’t say that would work for everyone.  

Basically if you roll in the door right at 8 and leave at 4:30 you probably don’t want to work here.  If you call in sick you better have a doctors note.  Don’t be late and don’t miss any work unless it’s actually warranted.  They treated me pretty good.  Others not so much.  If time off was easier to get approved and they had some better training and better service vans I’d probably still be there.  It’s just too hard to know what you are going to do a year in advance.  

I started with Capital in Feb/20, I was hired to do sales in Saskatoon, by June I was promoted to Branch Manager/Material Handling Consultant.  I continue to learn about the different types of equipment and warehouse solutions.  Every day is a new experience.  Customers are wonderful to deal with because we offer them an essential asset for their requirements. When I first started with Capital I had zero experience in the material handling world.  I owe my continued success to a great support team which includes other sales people from other branches, sales administrators and directors.  I remember very clearly, to this day, being told "you will never learn everything" and it's so true!  This industry is always changing with new engineering of forklifts to technology to apply IOT solutions within.   We have employees that have been with Capital for 10, 15 to 20+ years.  They must be doing something right! . I can honestly say I enjoy getting up and coming to work every day! How many people can honestly say that. No company is perfect so sometimes you have to look in the mirror. 

If you are willing to do the work Capital is willing to compensate you fairly.  I have been with the company over 10 years and I have seen people stay for many years, typically they are people who are willing to work and support the company and staff.  I have seen other employees leave quickly who are not willing to put in the work but expect the best in salary and benefits. Their work ethic leaves something to be desired.  Is it perfect here, no, but nowhere is. Is it the right fit for everyone, again no, but it is very rewarding if you can find your way to being part of the team.  Every company has areas it could improve on and Capital is no exception but it is always trying to improve just like any other company. 

This is a family owned company, and the management structure is difficult to work with. All decisions, quotes, questions are directed through head office, right down to the smallest matter. This creates delays in responses, difficulties with clarity and finding the correct person to respond and misunderstanding of answers.
There is a focus on product training which is excellent, but training on in house procedure can be unclear, and constantly changing. There is little to no tolerance of procedural errors for new staff.
In the 3 months I was there, there were more than 10 people who left the company (total employees for the company around 50), which added to the difficulties in getting anything accomplished.
There are some excellent people who work for this company, but I find it hard to believe they will last long.

I have worked at Capital industrial for over 20 years and have been rewarded not only with a fair wage, but with industry knowledge and loyal friends.
When I first started with Capital Industrial I was a bit down on my luck and was in need of steady employment and they gave me that opportunity. When I made mistakes or found myself down, the owners/Management where there to help guide me through. 
Honesty and hard work was all that was expected in return.
If you want to earn an above average wage for an honest days work, then Capital Industrial is a great place to have a career.
There are lots of employees at Capital industrial that are well past 10 years working with the company, that have rewarding careers.

Yes, at times the place feels like it has a revolving door and I have seen many people come and go, many of whom were not willing to build on a career but merely looking to take home a pay cheque. Capital expects an honest days work for an honest days wage, which is not unreasonable.  If your goal is to obtain a career you need to work for it, it is not handed to any of us.  Capital is very willing to work with it’s employee’s if they are willing to put in the time and effort to learn which in turn helps each of us to grow together, as individuals as well as a company.  
When I first started with the company I didn’t think I would be here over 10 years, but the longer I’ve stayed the more I am able to grow with the company.  A company that has been around over 40 years.


I worked as a service coordinator at Capital Industrial I believe it was around 2017/2018. Sadly, I left due to personal reasons, which had nothing to do with the company.  It's one of biggest regrets. 

Although sometimes the job seemed overwhelming, I felt that there was a strong support network with the service manager and the other service coordinator. 

The pay seemed fair, and the coworkers seemed fantastic. 

I had no issues with management, they seemed to actually care about the staff as individuals and I felt that I wasn't just a number.  

Ultimately, as with any job, you get out of it what you put into it. 

Like I said, my biggest regret was leaving due to personal reasons.  

If I had a chance to work there again, I totally would! 

There are a lot of long term employees at Capital, and I was one of them.  The company pays well, and during slow times they do everything they can to avoid lay offs.  For people that are willing to actually WORK from 8 a.m until 4:30 p.m (minus breaks), you could have a successful, enjoyable and rewarding career at Capital.  People that start their day at 8:05 and shut down their computers, or put their tools away at 4:20pm will have a less rewarding experience.  Their formula is simple: You work, they pay.
Its not rocket science.  

I have been with Capital for 6 months now, and I love it. I was an entry level Parts person, and I was given the opportunity to run Saskatoon Parts, Service, and shipping and receiving. I was compensated well, and I am never asked to stay late or give up my free time and time off. Work and personal time are easy to work around. I saw a lot of bad reviews, and I was skeptical about working here, but I love this location, and the staff are friendly, supportive and get you on the right track. 

Have to admit some staff are good people. Owners are not. They only care about money, not growing but money. They have no respect for anyone and will treat you like a child. If you are new, forget about getting support from anyone... everyone will blame what you did wrong or right plus, welcome to micro management. Expecting you to do 25-30 cold calls and submit a report at the end of the day, if it takes longer to submit the report you are not going to be paid for. Low car allowance. Every single quote goes to head office in Edmonton making difficult communication. Be aware, stay away.
