Working at CarerX has been an incredibly frustrating and demoralizing experience. From the management's blatant disregard for employee concerns to the toxic work environment, this organization is undoubtedly one of the worst places to start a career. Here are some of the reasons why CarerX falls short in every aspect:

Inattentive Management: The management at CarerX is utterly disappointing. They consistently demonstrate a complete lack of interest in their employees' well-being and opinions. Whether it's regarding work-related issues or personal grievances, management simply turns a deaf ear, leaving employees feeling ignored and undervalued.

Toxic Team Dynamics: The team atmosphere at CarerX is toxic and highly dysfunctional. Instead of fostering a collaborative and supportive environment, colleagues choose to mind their own business, creating an atmosphere of isolation and cutthroat competition. The lack of teamwork and cooperation severely hampers personal growth and professional development.

Absence of Work-Life Balance: CarerX fails to prioritize work-life balance, leading to a detrimental impact on the employees' personal lives. The demanding workload, coupled with unrealistic deadlines and excessive overtime, results in chronic stress and burnout. This lack of balance takes a toll on the mental and physical health of employees, ultimately hindering productivity and overall job satisfaction.

Lack of Growth Opportunities: CarerX offers minimal opportunities for professional growth and advancement. The company does not invest in training programs or career development initiatives. This lack of investment demonstrates a disregard for employees' long-term aspirations, leaving them feeling stuck in their roles and unable to progress.

Inefficient Communication: Effective communication is key to any successful organization, but CarerX severely lacks this fundamental aspect. Important information is often withheld, and communication channels are not established, leading to confusion and misinterpretation. The overall lack of transparency contributes to a sense of mistrust among employees.

In conclusion, CarerX is a workplace that should be avoided at all costs. The abysmal management, toxic team dynamics, absence of work-life balance, and lack of growth opportunities make it a nightmare for anyone seeking a fulfilling career. If you value your professional development, mental well-being, and desire a supportive work environment, I strongly advise looking elsewhere for employment opportunities.






Training is minimal for such a specialized pharmacy and completely dependent on coworkers or management to have the time to train you (they won't). You will be blamed for things you were never trained on and had no way of knowing.

Your schedule will be unpredictable. Expect to be there for an additional 4 to  10 hours past when your shift ends. Management will condition you to feel guilt towards your coworkers and the patients for leaving on time.
Numerous coworkers have had this strain their relationships/marriage. 
If you're single? Good luck with finding someone willing to put up with your hours.

On call is also a gigantic source of stress and sleep deprivation. Pharmacists will be handed a phone and are expected to answer calls at all hours of the night to help resolve "emergencies" on top of working their normal shift. Prepare to have disrupted sleep for a week straight every few weeks with inadequate compensation. The nurses calling will not have been adequately informed as to what constitutes an emergency, and have no idea that you're at home sleeping after working 12+ hours.
Management will not care to intervene on your behalf; you'll be lucky if the clinical pharmacist has time to train them.

Upper management only cares about acquiring more LTC homes and gives 0 thought about the staffing levels required to ensure patient safety and avoid overtime.
Expect an admittance of ignorance or attempts to repair the situation? Think again - management will double down and expect the staff pharmacists to figure the situation out themselves with no additional help.

Assistants are paid slightly above minimum wage and expected to go above and beyond on a regular basis.
Pharmacists are paid below market rate consistently; the company would rather bring in relief pharmacists at a premium than give raises to any staff regardless of how hard you work.

I’ve been working in a long-term care pharmacy setting for over 20 years, primarily focused on pharmacy automation and packaging using PacMed systems from McKesson. Throughout my career, I’ve always been deeply passionate and curious about technology. However, after many years in the same space, I began to feel that I’d reached a point of saturation, like I wasn’t learning anything new and might spend the rest of my career doing the same thing.

At the same time, I often wondered why, despite CareRx’s growth, there wasn’t much focus on Western Canada. Then things started to change. CareRx began investing heavily in the West, and that’s when this opportunity came up. I’m now part of the Pharmacy Technology team, where I get to support a broader region, work with new machines and technologies, and build upon the foundation of my 20 years of experience. It truly feels like the next step in my career journey.

A typical day for me involves managing support tickets, emails, and vendor communications; remote troubleshooting; reading manuals for ongoing learning; and collaborating with my team through meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions. I also contribute to future automation planning for the company. It’s dynamic, challenging, and most importantly, I genuinely love what I do.

I have been working for this company for 4 years. Within the last 4 years, they rebranded to become CareRx. Along with that change came many others, including changes in policy, in management, in structure of the company. As a clinical pharmacist I felt that the way I was treated changed, too. All the company cared about was their budget, profiting from my work, and making sure I fulfilled the bare minimum requirements of my position at my sites. I went above and beyond my job description, leading clinics, training new staff, helping write the new policy and procedure manual, with zero compensation or recognition of the extra effort. People in the company get promoted with barely enough of a raise to compensate for the extra work/stress the promotion brings. The pay has always been below average. And when I ask for things that would make me work better/more efficiently or have higher job satisfaction, they reject any of my requests. I would not recommend for anyone to work here. The hours are great (as a clinical pharmacist), but that’s the only good thing about it and it’s not worth all of the negative things that come with working for this company. 

I would recommend others don't fall for free training provided. There are better jobs out there at this place they don't value or respect your work. If you do a good job it's ok but for a mistake you make people start making faces. There is no proper training provided in all the areas. Manager and supervisor only follow what their favorite senior employees say and ask them to do. Some people are there to watch you and keep track of you. 
Less pay for the workload is there and a very toxic environment at this place. They want 100% from you but they don't want to be fair with you. 
They have a wow card scheme going on in a name of appreciation to motivate and encourage employees who actually working hard but it is more like favoritism only. some people keep giving to their favorites only and they choose a winner on that base only. 
There are better places out there but not this place. 


A typical day of work looks like you show up for your work and management thinks you do nothing without having any knowledge of what exactly your role is and then keeps giving you random duties to do and when your work gets delayed you are blamed for it. People who work here are burned out and unhappy to be working there. Management has no clue how stressful is dealing with customers is due to their experimentation on flow of work. You get yelled at by people for management mistakes. You have no clear instructions on what to do in certain similar situations and they expect you to ask them every time which delays your response making the customer even more frustrated. Then the management completely ignores your emails and you keep getting yelled and abused by customers. The company is growing at an unsustainable pace and on cost of its employees mental and physical health. On top of that you get slapped with barely there increments yearly. It’s rather feels humiliating than a reward. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO WORK AT CARERX…. THINK TWICE!

Since our CEO has switched from a business person to a pharmacist there has been more focus on the basics like staffing appropriately, working towards more robust training and on-boarding, central support, and improving the business without removing labour. Working day shifts only is a big plus.  We're also not open to the public which is less stressful than typical retail environments.  Having collaborative relationships with other health professionals opens the doors to learning new things. Most of our staff join an LTC pharmacy with no previous LTC experience and find it a rewarding sector to work in.  As a pharmacist, I largely focus on pharmacist-primary tasks - no need to run tills, no quotas, no playing security guard with your OTC section. Senior management cares about the health of the stores and are willing to parachute in resources when needed.

Forget about any work-life balance here - overtime is an expectation. High stress, high volume and management will make you feel guilty about leaving before work is done for the day instead of hiring extra help. They bank on your professionalism to take care of the patients, and encourage you to “think of the patients first” as if that’s possible when everyone is burnt out. There is no value placed on individual employees no matter how much anyone works. 

The only saving grace is some managers at the store level who try their best to make people’s lives easier, and middle management actively discourages this. 

Could be okay (for pharmacists anyway- everyone else is criminally underpaid for the work they do) if you want to make a lot of money as overtime is appropriately paid, but don’t expect to have a life unless you can walk out at the end of your shift without caring about anyone else. 

If you have a job offer from this place, RUN AWAY. This is the worst place I have ever worked. They give the most basic benefits (only enough to be able to say they give them). They demand overtime EVERYDAY. They don’t want to pay you for overtime so they want you to be on a salary rather than hourly. Management doesn’t care about employee wellbeing at all. They pretend to be transparent but in reality they are not. They don’t provide enough support (staff or otherwise) and then blame you if there are any issues. Lowest morale I have ever seen and overall worst experience ever. I only ended up here because they bought the company I worked for. I got out ASAP because the culture, management and overall outlook was only about money. They don’t care about patients or employees, this is why they have such high turnover in staff.

First of all, it's a very low pay range with a very high volume of workloads. There is a lot of turnover in this company, no matter where you go. I say higher-level management doesn't care about anything. Specially HR system sucks. There is no one to listen to your voice. They will be happy if you work for minimum wage. I am not lying, they expect people to work for very low wages with higher expectations. The amount of workload is insane. They hire unskilled people to work in the busy workplace just because they are cheap to hire, but management doesn't understand how difficult for others to accommodate and cover others' work. They expect us to be available 24/7 to work. Can you believe that? That drives me nuts. I don't understand how many people are quitting every day. Insane number of turnovers every month.
